CLS63 AMG
Having had a few Mercs over the years, and a small foray into the world of BMW. I am pleased to say I am back in a Merc.

After an almost endless wait I finally took delivery of my new CLS63 AMG - as you would expect I am delighted with it.

Just thought i would say hi and introduce myself to this forum.

Not sure I've done it right, but attached is a picture, car is Tenorite Grey.

Wow, what a car!

Would love to see more pictures and also hear your review of it. What BMW/Mercedes did you own before?

Beautiful car!

Thanks for all the welcomes. Good forum this that I've been watching a while.

Will post some more pics when the weather gets better, she's filthy already.

Will also post a review. Compared to an M5 - definetly chalk and cheese

As asked previous cars, BMW m5, porsche 911, clk 55' E320 sport.

Cheers Steve.

CLS63 AMG 1st Week Review

Had the car since last saturday, and as requested, thought i would give you a quick review and make some comparisons to the M5 that i was driving.

Firstly, i know its subjective, but it is a beautiful looking car. I wasn't a fan of the previous shape (sorry guys) and i know many people love the previous shape, but for me it just didn't work. The re-styling has I think made this a much more striking car, its looks more muscular, and i love the new front grill, and the new bonnet, the flared wheel arches and new lines down the side. From the back, its not all that different, but to my eye looks slightly less sloping than the previous model. The interior is really impressive, really nice seats and a real coupe driving position. It feel small inside compared to the M5, but really compact, and beats the beemer hands down. Controls are tight, they feel real quality, everything about it speaks sporty and class.

So its been pretty much wet since i got it, so haven't really been able to give it the beans. But this is a very different driving experience to the M5. The M5 is a tough car to drive, its quite jerky at slow speeds (my wife hated being in it). But where the M5 was outstanding was when the V10 got over 3k revs, it was like a rocket ship, it throws you back in the seat and delivers. I've got to be honest, i was a little disappointed with the power delivery of the AMG, but just coming-out of something totally different thats to be expected. But the AMG is a quicker car, and gets you there so quickly, and clinically, but it doesn't give you that oomph that the M5 did. I suspect the new M5 with V8 and twin turbos is probably more akin to the AMG. It is defiantly smoother to drives, especially at slow speeds, no jerkiness. And the sound!! - wow, i love starting this car up. I find myself waiting for people to walk by before i turn it over (very sad), but it just barks into life - it really is a beautiful sound. When driving it, it almost feels like a rear engine car as all the noise is behind you.

On the handling front, as i said above its been wet. The steering does feel very light, i think this is the new electronic steering. Don't get me wrong its nice, and easy to use, but almost feels a little too perfect. As i settle down with it and get some nice dry roads, I'm sure ill get the chance to get a better feel for it.

In summary. Absolutely delighted. Im a merc fan, always have been , and really pleased to get into a merc that meets by needs - performance - 4 seats - room for golf clubs, and looks great. Its quality all the way, its sounds awesome, and goes like stink. But it isn't a raw car, its very refined. But i guess that also part of the reason why we all love mercedes.

If anyone want any further info/views just let me know.

Steve
