Had my air con regassed at Ollys Benz on the Green GTG back in May and been happy with the performance until this week when the temperatures got up 30c+

Although still blowing cold from the vents, it wasn't cold enough.
Messing around with the controls, I turned the dial for each vent to the 9 oclock position for the air to come from the dash vents only.

Wow, what a difference having had them set for dash/feet previously.
If your a/c isn't working as it should, just check the setting and it can make so much difference.

My 1990 Audi 90's air con was so cold I could not hold my hand in the front of the air vent for a prolonged time, it was like a chiller :D

Current car is only 'cool', and rear passengers got sweaty backs

I run mine in auto mode all the time and the centre vents are freezing for me.

Last time I checked, I think was getting 3.5-4C from the centre vents.

The condition of the cabin filter makes a huge difference to the volume of air, and therefore the performance of the heating cooling system.
Don't forget that whilst designed as a replacement item, these can be cleaned in a bucket of soapy water - just make sure they are fully dry before reinstalling.
And around 4 degrees at the face vent is the correct temperature. Any lower and you run the risk of ice forming on the evaporator fins.

:-( I just want mine to work. That cannot be asking too much...can it ??

I find you have to continually re-engage recirc on MB, as it automatically reverts

If you continually rebreathing the same air, at some point the CO2 would rise enough that you'll gradually start slipping into unconsciousness. Not to mention the gradual dropping of O2. Not sure if that is a real risk as have no idea how airtight the recirc mode is.

Presume why that it reverts.

Think you will find fresh air from outside is always happening even in recirculate.

Not very airtight in my cabriolet!:thumb:

Mine seems to be poor when aimed at the footwells but fine from the dash vents...just with the cab its nice to have cold feet!

Tony.

I don't get my fan settings and that. I had the air con on the other day, put it on low on the temp and pressed the button. Was blowing cold air for ages, didn't turn down the fans after 10 mins so manually turned them down.

And whats up with the AC rest? Surely its off and you press it and its on?

Meh

If you turned the temp right down, the fans would have stayed on high. Test it by turning the knobs back a little (to say the mid position) and the fans should start to reduce in speed.

The 'rest' is for residual heating when the car is switched off - e.g. on a cold day when you have sent the wife out of the car to get your beer and you still want some heat, but the engine is turned off.

Why would they stay on full blast? Surely when it detects the car is getting colder it should slow the fans down?
It does it for heating ok.

Either
You have it set to max cooling
Or
It is hotter outside than your aircon can cope with.
Or
There is a problem with the sensing circuit.

May just be option 2 and you need a regas.
