Hi All,

I've noticed that while my A/C does get seem to be working it doesn't seem as cold as other cars I've previously owned which got really ice cold. My car is two and half years old I've had it six months and make sure I regularly run the A/C whatever the weather as am aware of the dangers of not running it.
When I set it to low and on auto the blowers go to full and you can notice it much more then but not at lower blower settings? I'd be interested in anyone feedback on there cars or if there's a way of testing

Thanks

Stick a thermometer in the vent and see what temperature get.

There is a Groupon offer for clean and recharge at the moment which might come in handy. Maybe not the best price compared to some small indi's but I always want my cleaned at the same time.

https://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/mr-clutch-autocentres-4. I have no connection with the company other than having had mine done and finding it made quite an improvement.

There are other offers on their cheaper and also with other services like MOT's

Checked mine last week as i was going to get it re-gassed as it hadnt been done since the car was new (6 1/2 years ago)

I didnt bother once i saw how low it actually was.

Get the temp checked and take it from there.

Checked mine with a digital temp came out around 4.9 is this about right?

My own is 5°c on a hot day, it hasn’t been touched in 5 years or more, I’m happy with the temperature but will be getting it re-gassed shortly as it probably has lost some gas over that time.

It shouldn’t be neglected as it can damage the system if it’s not used and maintained regularly, you don’t know for sure if it needs servicing until you get it checked out by a proper A/C outfit.
I don’t know what normal is but when you see KennyN’s 2.6°c you wonder if that’s normal or is just because its Scotland.

I work with vehicle AC systems, best advice I can give is that a 10 degree drop from ambient (outside) temp is expected, and anything more than that is a bonus. but as with most modern climate control AC systems, it is designed to stop the evaporator in the heater box from freezing, so it is rare for any AC system with electronics to allow air below 2 degrees c, as to prevent icing.
old school pre-90's systems are another thing altogether though.

I was surprised by the low figures given by a couple of posters - mine has never (I've had it since nearly new and it's been regassed twice) felt icy cold but I'd read that's a Mercedes thing, they don't blow out freezing air. Seems that's wrong based on the pics above.
