I want to change my steering wheel to the grey that matches the leather.

I can source various steering wheels trimmed in the correct colour, but they all come without an airbag so need a replacement airbag. Of course I could go to an MB dealer, guess they are more than £300, have found a few on eBay

My questions are ..........

1) Where else can I source a matching airbag?
2) Would anyone want to swap grey for my black?

I can try to sell my removed black airbag, would anyone buy it?
Can I just post it with a 'live' explosive inside? I think that's a no-no!

Advice or info would be appreciated.

When I changed my steering wheel the new airbag (£500!) arrived via courier from Germany. I sold my old 'wheel complete with airbag and sent it via Parcel Force.

I have in the past employed car interior specialists when changing trim colour, door cards, roof trim, ect, this may be a cheaper route.

As per Woody's - a retrim may well be your best bet. Remember seeing a thread showing one before and after. Looked great. But can't find it for the life of me, sorry.

That was an expensive change, although money for old wheel discounted the cost.
Airbags must be OK to post, probably inert in some way with electrical power.

The problem is that the airbag cover is not removable on a W211 and W219, it is integrated in the design and is plastic, it feels so anyway. I have sourced airbag covers for other MB wheels but not these. So an upholsterer could not change the airbag colour for me. Still need to source a complete replacement.
