Airmatic suspension standard on W220?

scan0003.jpg

from the above can I take it that the car does not have Air suspension or soft closing doors?

thanks

I thought Airmatic standard on W220, especially on the 500.

This one has Airmatic, it's the second switch from the right on the top just below the air vents.

Does not, as seller claims, have leather dash though.

Pre facelift W220s also RUST

All s class came with airmatic as standard on the 220 chassis

The easiest way to check to see if it works is to press the switch and see if it rises up.

Hi, does it rise up automatically when you turn the key?, what is the purpose of the button?
thanks

are u able to lower the car below the normal ride, or are the settings to raise it only?

thanks

The ride height is automatic.
You can raise the car using the up arrow. This cancels at speeds of about 75 mph or above. The car will also lower further when you reach a certain speed.
You can adjust the firmness of ride by pressing the button with a shock absorber symbol on it, one press makes it firm and two presses (both LEd's lit) will make it even harder.
You can only 'lower' the car by the addition of a special 'chip' which is very expensive (about 1k).
The only reason you would need to raise the car is if you were travelling over very undulating terrain or if you were driving through a flood.
The ride height corrects itself when you add weight such as passengers or luggage.

As mentioned above it will have airmatic. The suspension should raise and drop with the use of the button. To see if it is working properly press the airmatic suspension button to raise the car and it should raise slowly without stopping or any hesitation.

When car is raising there should be no loud whirring sounds or burning smell, if so the pump is worn out. The car wont raise properly if so and will struggle anyway. Also as a quick check, when parked, check all four corners to see if all the struts are holding at a level height and none of them have dropped or lowered. This means that they aren't holding air and have had it.

These are just most common airmatic problems to look for. It doesnt mean it will or does suffer from any of this. So don't start to worry. Just good to look out for these as it does happen.

Read some of these previous posts to get an idea of a other common issues like the faulty relay the suspension has etc.
