wheels do you like oem or amg, lorinser ,carlsson, brabus or replicas or any other configuration of tyre and wheel sizes.. every body seems to want bigger wide wheels is it worth it for the look or just stick with what you have?? enjoy the ride . on small 16s .

Hello depends on what you want, I prefer looks over comfort and have generally had large wheels on all my cars.

Its what you get use to, my last car had 19" with 35 profile tyres with sports suspension and drove fine.

If you do big miles though I can understand you would want comfort and also cheaper tyres...

I would also generally keep with OEM / replicas / known tunning types After maket specials never 'look' right to me. Dads got 'proper' AMG on his SLK and they have actually worn quite poor compared to replicas for a fraction of the price.

Bigger / wider wheels also tend to tram line more, but again you get use to this.

I'm already 'looking' at 20's for my ML, thinking 22's are maybe too big really..

Cheers

I think this has a lot to do with personal taste, I like my 16 @ 205/55 not to big and just enough clearance to not make the car look daft

I want to go up either 1 or 2" on Edna but prefer origianls inc AMG. Would love 18" AMG IVs on Edna:o .

mmm - interesting:rolleyes:

I go for looks over comfort when it comes to wheels, as I don't tend to drive long distances and like me/the car to get noticed! I currently have 18's, ride quality not bad at all, tyre prices doubled from 15's, so not too bad.
I would love genuine wheels but at the prices they are I tend to go for second hand or replicas.

As others say, it's an individual choice and different people have different tastes, preferences.

To me comfort comes top of my priority list. I also think larger wheels unbalance the look of a car, upset the delicate lines of the original design.

There is a lot in what you say, looking on the US sites where someone has fitted 21" wheels to a SL and you cant see the tyres, they are like rubber bands, these things must shake the car to bits, yet alone the driver

Obviously depends what you want from your car. Comfort, style or both! And yes you can have both.

Hence why at 18 I bought a Mercedes whilst everyone else had their saxo's, fiestas and corsas! :D

Generally speaking OEM all the way for me.

That said the one slight exception is Brabus when it comes to Mercs, but they're almost OEM these days.

Large-ish wheels look nice - like anything else, it's possible to go over the top though. I reckon 18" are a nice compromise on most medium and larger cars.

Yup, next major mod for me is some nice 18"s...... i agree with everyone that OEM, replica and known tuners are best :) I still cant make my mind up from these, let alone including aftermarket designs!

OEM's - and mine came with 19" already - fortunately the ride isn't bad at all (although I would be interested to feel/hear the difference if running on 17", just out of interest). And it's a pretty large car so the proportions seem right to me.

The 'OEM' preference is all to do with liking the design/style etc. as opposed to a per se liking - there are some OEM styles that I do not like.

Personally I quite like larger wheels on road cars, although avoiding 'bling' can be difficult on the larger sizes - I do think they look daft on 4x4 tho (err, sorry A210 :))

OEMs. I've lost count of how many different sets of wheels and tyres I've tried on my three mercs. I've tried all sorts including Replicas but the best look (IMO) comes from what was designed for any given model hence why I put AMG iVs on mine because they were meant for w203s.

OEM's for me too and I went from 16''s to 17''s which was for looks more than anything plus they are easier to clean. Although the ones I have were not available as an option, I purchased them afterwards and they do fit the offset rule/s. They just seem to look right to me and the ride seems no different to the original 16''s.

Portzy.
