without any rubbing issues?thanks
steve.
If you check your original wheels or the handbook it will give you the offset and this is what dictates wheel fitment.
On genuine MB wheels there is the ET number and that is the offset in mm.
On my R129 the original standard alloy wheels are 8J x 16 ET34.
I can fit 9.5J x 18 ET33 without any fouling as the 1 mm difference does not cause caliper fouling or wheel arch issues.
I tried fitting 8.5J x 18 ET30 as per current SL and they fouled the bodywork.(They stick out too far)
I tried 8.5J x 17 ET38 wheels off an E class and they fouled the calliper however fitting 15 mm spacers gave me an effective ET35. I used very good quality spacers that have the seating taper machined into them so the wheels seat centrally.
Even after market wheels should somewhere state the offset number and that will tell you.
I think the E class wheels look retro enough to suit the R129
Seeing as the post further down about 18 x 8.5J need some modification to go on a W124, not much chance 19 x 9.5J will without any issues especially with a 40mm drop.
