Will these fit a 300TE W124 without any rub-rub?
17" wheels with 235 wide tyres.

You need the size and offset i'm afraid , OEM doesn't mean anything , the wheels off an ML for example won't fit a 190E ...

tv,
they are 17" wheels fitted with 225/45 front & 245/40 rear tyres - ET not known and wheels with seller.

Ask the seller to tell you the ET .... it's stamped on the back ...

I have ET34 on my 17" Evo II alloys on my W124, they fit well too.

I had a pair of ET25's on the front of my car when i bought it , but they rubbed the arches when under compression ....

The back ones didn't though ....

Think you can go to 31 , with certain types of wheel ...

Yeah, I haven't heard or seen anyone with a lower ET than that on a w124 before. As long as you have the right bolts put on too then you will be OK. Get them retightened after 1000miles to be on the safe side.

Those wheels are off a W209, aren't they?

Don't commit to buying them until the seller actually confirms to you what they are .....

Not sure about the staggered tyre widths and different profiles either

They are on ebay - search 'mercedes wheels' and they come on top five list. Reckon they worth the starting/buyitnow price!?!
Doesn't say which car they are off.

225 tyres on the front of a W124 will destroy the handling - you'll find the car tramlines horribly and the steering will be a little unpredictable at full lock, any wider than 225 and they will sit proud of the wheel arches (of course depending on offset)

I've got 8" rims on my W124 (et 34) and they fit fine - any wider would be a bit tight against the shock absorbers and if the tyres were any wider I suspect they'd rub against the wings.

After a lot of experimenting, I settled on 225 tyres on the rear and 205's on the front

Andy

I have 7.5 x 17's on mine with 225/45/17 tyres all round ....

As Andy says , it does tramline occasionally , but not noticed anything terrible with the handling , not noticed anything bad when on full lock either ( other than in the snow , where it seems to slide a little bit )

No issues with suspension or wheelarch contact either , mine are ET35 ..
