Anyone got any tips for cleaning aluminium trim, the sort that goes round car windows and doors in strips. Just finished SWMBO's car and the aluminium trim is tarnished/weathered a little and spoiling the look of the car. Does anyone know any products or tips that will get this shining again instead of dull?

TIA

Ian

Will it not damage the anodising ?

autoglym metal polish is good too, prob the same stuff

A coloured aluminium trim probably anodised. A very hard layer but very thin, which Autosol may abrade through. Did I read that Autoglym SRP can be used on anodised trim? Autosol goes contain some oils which will halt oxidation tarnishing for a while. I seem to remember we used to lacquer aluminium metal after polishing, but not what with, but a good wax might work just as well - though not permanent.

Try this thread, flania1.

I agree that standard autosol may be a little too abrasive. I've used Autoglym metal polish as it's the least abrading of the metal polishes imo.

I've not used the Autosol Anodised Aluminium polish, though I'd be interested to hear of the results from any members who have.

Yes i had that problem with the CL's window surrounds and could not bring them back to there former glory, so i had them colour coded.

Try Sonus a bit gentler than Autsol?
