Do you mean that?
I hope Nick, you mean £5995 - otherwise there is no point in this thread since even the chap with the Star kit was talking about £5k. I think I would have a queue for the car if I put it on at £4995. Clearly the market value is whatever someone will pay for it, but going by the valuation I got from CAP and comments from other members on this thread, I am trying for nearer £6k as a fair price. Thanks to folk who have commented on my eBay ad. I have altered the advert, including amending the MOT date etc which I hadn't realized had defaulted to January. Having paid for a month's advertising, I am going to leave it there even though serious buyers may miss it, and then re advertise in more focused forums such as Autotrader and Pistonheads once I get back from a short break at the end of the month. I have learned a lot from this thread and it is great to hear from those who can contribute their experience.
I am regarding the Star checkup as a benefit even though I think it was a p!55 take from someone wanting the car to sell it on. I wouldn't be happy to sell a car with defects (unless agreed) and so it was time well spent for me watching him do it. I believe MB charge quite a lot to do the same for prospective buyers of second hand cars.
