Hi guys,

New here on the forums. I'm looking to buy a new '11 E-class 250 CGI sport standard white colour with the leather (not Nappa ) and APS 50 as options.

After a an hour long discussion with him and his manager, the price was dropped to 37,000 pounds.

Is that a good price for the car? How much did you pay for yours?

Just looked at the price , doenst sound like it. Unless the car youre trading in is being over inflated on the trade in the retail on that car is £36,825.

Drive the deal are doing it for a shade under £35k

best to use an independent broker to hunt a new but cancelled order of course specs might be different and colour choice is limited but the price will be better (more discount)

LIST as of Oct 2010

E250 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY Sport [5speed auto gearbox std but may be 7 speed now?] is currently £35,375
Diamond white [metallic] is £1,080
Navigation 50 is £1185

= £37,640 OTR--- total VAT 17.5 %

Depends also on whether his price takes account of the increase in VAT as of 4th Jan 2011 but see this---- http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/how...se/tax-is--unfortunately--a-bit-taxing/254314

looks like I was taken for a ride

Thanks guys for replies,

I've just ran the numbers from the retailer price list, and its exactly 36455 pounds with my options selected. and no I wasn't trading in a car!

He originally give me a list price of 38745 pounds but dropped it to 37K
15K would be put as deposit and I would finance 22K in three years for 661.73 a month.

I'm going to give him a call and see why on earth he gave me that price.

On an other note, is it worth it to get the Command Nav instead of the 50? and is there another option you recommend me to get?

I would price up your car at New Mercedes Benz E Class Cars for Sale | Cheap Mercedes Benz E Class Deals | E Class Reviews

and use it a as a guide to negotiate with the dealer.

My Dad picked up a new C class Executive SE from them a few weeks ago (new build). Got a 15% discount and the car was sourced from Mercedes Corporate. It also came with the expensive ridged car mats for free !

I don't think the discount they offer on the E class is as much but probably still competitive.

They have a stock (which may mean pre-registered) 350 CDI Avantgarde with Command Sat Nav and Airmatic suspension for £36,995
Mercedes Benz E Class E350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY Avantgarde 4dr Tip Auto Diesel Saloon New Car - in stock

Oh , thats a terrible deal then. Was it for a factory order or a stock car?

is there anybody you recommend?

It was in stock.

a stock car in december .... jackpot with big flashing lights. Hold out for around 10-15% and leave them hanging.

Plus ill bet it was the old model with the 5 speed box on it. Plus its a petrol that they will have trouble to shift. Have you thought about the diesel? Its not much more and the running costs and resale will be higher.

sorry, but my English isn't perfect :) what do you mean by jackpot with big flashing lights?

yes it has a 5 speed gearbox, but he told me it was an '11. Does that mean its not?

All the cars I've owned are petrols, and don't have a clue about diesel engines in the benz.

I bought my E through iCar Global. They put me in touch with their contact who supplied the car at corporate discount, which was 8% as opposed to dealer 4%.

Give Adam a call, I doubt you'll get a better price.

Regards, Neil

PS. From the Mercedes configurator OTR £37,750 including on the road charges and first year tax - calcite white, leather, APS50.

I have APS50, you need the 'brain' for Distronic Radar Cruise. Unless you want built in Nav, I wouldn't bother with either, media connection is essential however if you want to add a USB/iPod. Both APS50 and command are poor at sat nav, command gives other bits regarding media all of which is pointless if stick a 32GB stick in the glovebox for £30! (I don't really need to watch DVDs or talk to the car). However, Distronic is superb and you need APS50 or command to operate it.

Happy hunting.

lads, correct me if I'm wrong, but if you realy want to get '11 I think you should buy it in january or even make sure it is special request or something... I was driving one of my company cars replacements and it was '10, but found in the car that it was made in 08.. meaning it was sitting in the yard for ages before the dealer registered.... well it was a volvo, but I presume it can be like that with MB too.
I hope that made sense..

I was very fortunate in being able to the deal in cash!

Not sure what they could do in terms of finance but I'm sure you'll be able to get a good deal. You only pay Adam if the deal is done.

By the way, the other option I would recommend is the 80ltr tank.

Regards, Neil

PS MY11 were produced from August 2010, my car is an '11. On the Avantgarde they are distinguishable by the straight LED DLRs as opposed to the boomerangs. I think the updates were software, electrical systems related but can't be sure.

I just mean that december is a slow month for them with very little happening when most people are spending money on christmas stuff and their attention is somewhere else. This means they will be more willing to deal to shift cars , especially a stock car.

when are you intending on taking delivery of the car?

I'll give Adam a call tomorrow and check things out. Thanks Neil :)

Very true, you do have a point there. I could pick up the car if I want to. dealer is not really far away.

EDIT : thought you said could instead of when. I was planing to get it before the end of year, but I could wait until Jan/Feb

£37k for a 4 clyinder one-madness. Hold out for a lightly used E500 for a bit more with a LOT more go.
