Ambient lighting in W203 C-Class

I was really impressed with the ambient lighting in a facelift W211 E-Class I recently drove.

I noticed that there's an amber bulb in the bottom of the rear view mirror in a 2005 C-Class courtesey car I've driven today - not as slick as the W211, but an improvement over the apparent lack of ambient lighting in my 2003 C-Class.

Are there any other ambient lights in the the facelift C-Classes, and can they be retro-fitted to earlier models?

There are puddle lights under the doors that come on when you open them. These are standards on some parts of the world. Other than that, there is nothing else.

I hired a new Vectra earlier this year, it had the same yellow light showing under the rear view mirror!!
