AMG A35 Owners Thread

We have both. You should test drive both and see which you prefer. My partner has the A35 and I have the facelift C43 (385bhp).
He bought the A35 before I bought the 43. He wishes he had bought a c43.
As a passenger in the A35, I always feel sick at the bumpy ride. It's ok on the motorway but travelling locally, twice this week, I felt very sick with the shaky ride on our local lanes. I had forgotten (with lockdown and lack of use) that we take my car if it's a trip on local roads and we used his a35 by mistake. This wasn't throwing it around, it was steady, sensible driving.
They sound very different. The c43 has a better sound. It's my 3rd c class and nothing like the smaller engines.
You should test drive both. The c class is sporty but comfortable and sounds better if you like a v6.
Ps you said you like the ambient lighting in the 35. The 43 has it depending on the level you buy
Im sure you will love whichever you choose
Some good points and excellent advice. 👍🏻

Test drive both and see which fits best. Both are great cars but one will suit you and your driving style more.

I really really wanted to have the original A45 and was waiting for what felt like an eternity until it was launched to test drive one before ordering. I’m glad I did because whilst I absolutely loved it, and still do enjoy driving the A45 when I have the chance, it just wasn’t the car that I wanted it to be. I still love it. It just wasn’t the right car for me at that time, and I had to drive it to find out.

Personally if you are looking at the C class it needs to be the C63. The A35 is at a different price point and not comparable to the more mature softer C43. Technically RRP the C43 is A45 cash but as its a run out model so huge discounts are available.

Personally, if this COVID thing is to run for a few years I'm thinking about trying to return the A35 and go for an F10 M5 or M6 GC. Or maybe an RS6.

Plus this is inbound as the next winter project.... Time to help the old man fit supercharger and Air ride.... Growing old disgracefully. Screenshot_20200813-095413_Auto Trader.jpg

With the facelift A35, if one were to buy one with an Aero kit, other than the grille, wheels and brakes, are there any other exterior differences between this and an A45? I mean is the A45 wider? The front wheels arches looks more flared?

Also, interior wise, I can only see the seats being different, is there anything else?

1. Whole front end
2. Bonnet
3. Arches front and back are different I believe
4. Exhaust or at least the tail pipes
5. Badges of course... Side and rear

PLUS Internally
6. Engine / turbo / map ecu / and some internals
7. Gear box
8. Diff (A35 front biased, A45 rear I believe) plus A45 can lock duffs differently to engage drift mode

Thanks for the info

So I'm going to view an A35 from a private seller on Wednesday.

Can anyone confirm if all A35 came standard with the top spec MBUX system? ie. with the full 10 inch screens? or did these have to be spec'd?
If the latter, how can I tell it's the top spec'd version?

Forgot to mention that the car has a premium plus pack. I'm new to mercedes so if anyone can confirm what this pack consists of in the A35, and whether the larger screens are part of it?

Premium plus has twin wide screens, memory sets (if not upgraded to supers port seats), high end Burmester sounds and pano roof. Plus a host of other bits such as the awesome ambient lighting.

And if you are lucky might also have the HUD...

In the A35, the £6000 AMG Premium Plus package is expensive, but adds plenty of toys, including electric seats, a panoramic roof, adaptive dampers, Burmester hi-fi, multibeam LED headlights, the Black and Aero kits, 19-inch wheels, and the full-width MBUX driver’s display. The lesser £2500 AMG Premium pack only bundles the tech additions, but still lifts the interior if the full package is a little rich.

Yes that's the spec now. When I ordered, black pack and aero could be ordered separately. Unfortunately I could not get stock of a Mountain grey one so had to go with a Premium....

So I went to view an A35 and overall the car seemed in good condition, and so it should as it's a 2019 car.
One thing that bothered me is, I noticed that the top hat of all four brake discs are completely rusted.

Was told by the salesman that this is normal on Mercedes. Car has covered about 8k miles.
Can anyone confirm that this is in fact normal?

Can't say I've noticed this on my previous car, although it appears they are painted from factory.

Also, when braking, it squeaks slightly on the right driver side.
Salesman said there was 90% pad left, and squeaking caused by rust and just needs a good clean.
However, rust is on all the discs, so why is the squeaking only from front driver side?
Any thoughts?

Sounds like there is contamination on the pad, as the sales guy says potentially rust.

Mines are not rusty at all but it's a garage queen and isn't left outside.

It might have been parked up for some time in the open causing the surface rust on the ‘top hat’. The squeaking could also be caused by surface rust on the disc which should disappear after several miles coupled with some braking.
Imo never trust a car salesman and if you’re not happy walk away.

Yes, good point. MB has made some odd decisions. The HUD is no longer an available option which is a pity as the SATNAV with the augmented reality up on the screen is seriously cool. Just another part of my A35 which makes it a seriously good all rounder.

Those top hats rust probably because the original owner was using the migrant wash to clean it, totally incorrect/harsh chemicals to make them look like that after 12 months.

They are easily painted up (and should be) and a good detailer will probably do it for you as part of a preservation package.

Thanks doe the replies.
Just one more question, the car comes with Premium plus pack, will this also include AR sat nav, or is that a separate add on like the HUD?
