AMG detailing

More importantly I would like to know what makes you a MB club veteran and I’m a measly Hardcore MB enthusiast, even though I joined b4 you. Are you higher up the ladder in the forum world ? :dk:
You don’t get access to the secret forums either.

If you feel like it go for it , sometimes it’s the
past time of sourcing badges parts etc then the fitting can be very enjoyable, after all it’s more or less like a hobby and to me it’s better than train spotting or being a twitcher.

No sir , perhaps its a post count thing?

This exactly. I think that it's 6000 posts to get the veteran status. I did think at one stage that it should go off the post count but then realised that a lot tend not to post too often, myself included. The real life thing tends to get in the way for me...

As for the original post, your car, do whatever you want with it. :)

AMG trolling has to really be outlawed on here. Doubt any of it is a genuine question.
Hi guys what do mb owners think about detailing your car as an AMG when it clearly hasn't got an AMG engine but as all the styling ie: AMG wheels, AMG body styling, AMG interior floor mats, and even advertised as an AMG in adds, so is it wrong to stick an AMG badge on the bonnet and boot.
It looks good so be gentle lol

It's not wrong, it's actually very right to accentuate that you drive the car with A.M.G components in it. Be proud of it, ignore the nay sayers and badge away.

Are they 'A.M.G components' or accessories branded AMG by the MB marketing department - kerching

One word "welcome" - post it to every new member....and you will become a veteran in no time........:)

AMG is Mercedes though, isn’t it? :dk:

Er yes I know - the point is MB have turned AMG into a marketing tool for spurious accessories and diluted the original 'performance' value of the brand. If I fit AMG branded floor mats or kick sills to my car is my car now an 'AMG Performance model' worthy of badging it as such?

Joking apart you should do what is best for you. Motoring should be pleasurable and if you want to stick an AMG badge on it then you should just do it. All I would say is don’t go overboard with the extras to the point where it looks tacky. Only car enthusiasts would be able to spot that it wasn’t an AMG but I reckon the majority of the public would take it on face value.
As a 16 yr old I was guilty of sticking 125 on the side of my restricted Suzuki TS 50cc to give the impression that it was it’s bigger brother.
The problem I had was after 30 mph I was up stream without a paddle because it ran out of gas. Although to be honest I could push it to about 37 downhill with the wind behind me.
Some photos would be nice of the end result. :)

I had a TS50 “ER”
£368.50 it cost me of my hard earned paper round money. I picked it up on my 16th birthday after saving up for over a year. 1979 :)
Yea it was dog slow compared to my mates Fizzys and AP50’s but I didn’t care, I was new and a scrambler.

Trip down memory lane, exactly the same for me in blue, not sure if they did other colours. :)

I was one of those AP50 kids who in 1979 bought a 1977 model so I had the fastest bike in school. Looked dull and boring but in those days each extra mph was worth bragging rights, 60mph downhill, I remember hugging the tank just to squeeze the extra out to lose those Fizzies racing me :-). Wish I was 16 again lol.

At that time my mate had a Yamaha DT 175, although he was only 16 at the time (long story don’t ask) and we would regularly swop bikes.
Coming from a restricted moped his felt like a Hayabusa (which later on in life I once owned).
I suppose that was the only time (I’m prepared to admit) where I flouted the Road Traffic Laws apart from the time my mate borrowed the family car when he was 15 but we’ll gloss over that one.
When my mate on the DT 175 got stopped by the Police he would produce his brothers driving licence
I was well behaved compared to some of my associates o_O
Those were the days :)

My mate (who was “sensible”) had a Honda SS50 which was the fastest bike at school however it did take about 5 miles to reach its top speed lol.
I remember going to Box Hill the first time. There were about 20 of us on our mopeds...oh how the big boys laughed at us. We weren’t bothered though, we loved it. Used to go regularly then until I got rid of my last Fireblade a few years back. Thought I’d quit while I was still in possession of all of my limbs. (Apart from the tip of my left index finger but that’s for another thread lol)

Doubt I would be able to handle a Fireblade these days, never rode anything above the old Suzuki X7 250, swapped 2 wheels for 4 by the time I was 18. Stayed away from 2 wheels until 3 years ago when I was given a Honda 125 to ride in Bali and managed to come off that with a pot hole lol.

It’s just too easy to ride a bike fast.
All that self control just seems to vanish out of the window when a nice winding open road presents itself.
Plus 100moh wheelies are rather exciting.
Anyway, every tine I get a hankering for a new bike I’m reminded how crap and packed the roads are now so am easily dissuaded.
Ended up not being much fun to be honest.
