Well I fell in love with a C32 so my 320 Clk has to go, its just been serviced at a cost of £1300, it still has 20 months transferable warrenty left and is in great running order, the only fault is the temp display is breaking up, follow this link for pictures and more details, I am not a trader I have just put these pictures up on a friends website

Not having a dig but I don't think you can sell it with outstanding finance still on it can you? it's not legally yours to sell.

You can, in a roundabout way.
The buyer would have to pay the finance company the asking price of the car and then the finance company would give the seller the difference.
Only know this as I bought 1 of my lorries with outstanding finance on it.
HTH

Well - he is saying that the finance will be cleared before a transaction is completed .. I think that's fair enough. The finance company just hold a charge over the vehicle until the money is paid off.

Most people tend to advertise and agree a sale on their house before settling their mortgage and completing the purchase of a new one .. isn't that the same thing ?

Yep, the problem occures if the seller doesnt have the funds to clear the finance before the buyer has paid.. In this case, the buyer pays agreed price - finance outstanding and the buyer then pays it off (as grav said)....

So the buyer has to give the finance compay say £20,000 or whatever then he trusts that the seller will give him back the difference?? what a good deal that isn't.
I refused to buy my bike with finance still on it until it was cleared. I think you'd have to be crazy to part with your hard earned and then hope the seller is honarable.

No, the other way round mate.
Say the car is £20,000
Finance owed on car is £10,000
You pay the £20,000 to the finance company (the car is then yours) and they give the remaining £10,000 back to the seller.

When I have an agreed sale and a small deposit I will clear the outstanding finance before the sale is complete so the buyer can check with MB to make sure its all kosher..come on guys do you really think I would expect someone to stump up that kind of money without any safe guards for themselves

Am I asking the right price for this car?

I think its pretty good value myself. Its a facelift, in a popular colour not too many miles.

If I hadnt just bought a C180 for the wife, I'd be very interested in your car.

Good luck

As the original owner of a '99 pre-facelift CLK with more miles on, that cost £40k new, I'd say you definitely are not asking the right price ... you should be asking at least £4k more ;)

Seriously, whoever buys that is getting a bargain :)

Have you offered it to the stealers for an idea of the money they are offering?
I'm sure your friend in the trade will have given you a look at the book price (glasses guide?)

Cheers

Sparky.

The guy who's site I've put the car on only sells motorbikes, The Mercedes Indy I bought the c32 off were looking at 11.5/12k to trade it inI thought it was worth more, they told me it would be marked up at around 16k

Well that was painless the clk has sold....hurray
