Right then i have a set of 18" genuine amg monos fitted to my w202 which im very happy with but they have an offset of ET 31, the front do stick out just a fraction though and i was wondering if it was possible to increase the offset by getting them machined down maybe 5mm on the inside as ive seen comanies online that can do this OR is there an 18 inch monoblock amg wheel out there that already has a slight increased standard et than 31, maybe more like ET36 or something.. if i can do this then i think i would get a really nice flush look on the fronts and i can even bring the rear sets out 5mm to then match the front ones.....!!!!!!!!

well i spoke to a company today who can machine up to a maximum 5mm from the inner wheel, so if i was to do this i would probably go for a 4mm reduction to make the offset ET35 and then increase the rear by using a 5mm spacer so i would probably get a much nicer look. £20 per wheel.. no bad i suppose.. need to think about this for sure :)

Did they say yes after inspecting the wheels or a generic yep, we can machine upto 5mm off the mounting face? Reason for asking is that i thought about this briefly as monoblocks in the ET42 W124 offset are nowhere near as common as ET35 versions. Scrapped the idea when once i saw the wheels as there's not much material under the bolt heads- if only they didn't recess the bolt holes soooooo deeply. Tread VERY carefully, may not apply to 18 x 8.5 et31 but i wouldn't be comfortable taking more than a tiny clean up skim off of mine. I'd also be quizzing anyone about the runout tolerances they guarentee... lots of cowboys out there and if the don't clock the wheel exactly when setting up it'll end up FUBARed

That is sound advice, I had a set of rears that needed machining, the company I used were very clear they had the equipment and capability but made it clear that they needed to see the wheels first to access if it was safe to make the changes.

yes i think once ive pushed the rears out 5mm it might actually look ok, i can always look for a set of genuine c43 wheel arch extenders instead.. :)
