Hi guys. Had my C63s serviced at Poole. It was it’s third service so an A. Been told there was a misting of oil on rear shocks. They cleaned them and took it for a road test and when checked again only the NSR had the misting. So recommend to change. It’s done 18500 miles.
Today is the first time I was able to have a look and they both seem nice and dry! I have booked it in with them to change both for £890 with there discount. Should I get a second opinion? I had a terrible experience with them on the day of service. Told them I was an hour away and needed plenty of time to get to them. But of course they phoned me at 17.55 to say it ready to pick up and they close at 18.30! I had left earlier luckily and the chap (Jamie) I was dealing with had gone home but got to speak to a manger who was very good and listened to my ranting about Jamie.
I thought that Poole being a main AMG garage you should be able to trust them but I’m having my doubts!
I have dealt with them before and they were amazing. Could it be just the mechanic that serviced the car be mistaken? My car is my pride and joy and like to keep it tip top. Oh and it’s on a service plan so no money changed hands but I guess they make it up on the extras!
Sorry for long post. Look forward to your opinions 👍

Is it still under warranty? If not, then you’re only just out of warranty (assuming that it’s been serviced on time) so I’m surprised that these are not being replaced under warranty or as goodwill.

It’s just out of warranty. They are giving me 50% discount. I also have taken the extended warranty but they not covered 😩

I think you have a fair case to push for a bigger contribution but if you’ve accepted the price then they won’t budge now. That said Mercedes aren’t generous on goodwill these days!

I believe that’s got ABC suspension? My SL55 has misting from when I got it 2
1/2 years and 5k miles ago, and it’s fine. I’ve done some work on the ABC and changed the fluid 15 months ago.

I just monitor the fluid levels, and mine doesn’t use any. I have read that some misting is not something to be worried about.

Jmho

yes I’ve accepted the price because I didn’t know any better. But they just look nice and dry to me with no misting on them.

Wipe them clean, if no further misting forget about them.

Great idea. Have you used them at all?
I've used them as well - very helpful garage - just call them first.
I've also used Project AMG at Three Legged Cross - the chap there had 16 years AMG experience before setting up his garage & he was excellent when i wanted a 2nd opinion on my (then) troublesome rear suspension..

Well the driver for Poole turned up today to change rear shocks. I asked them to double check they needed doing and received a phone call to say a senior teck had checked them and they were completely fine and not needed changing. WTF! At least they were honest and held there hands up and admitted they got it wrong! The guy who serviced it was off sick today and they couldn’t ask him what the problem was. I asked them to check everything he had done to make sure everything was fine. I’ve got my faith back in main dealers now 👍

Is there such a thing as a main AMG garage? I thought all Mercedes dealers handled AMG cars the same way

I don't know the exact answer to this, but MB-Poole is part of the Sandown Group who label themselves AMG specialists. There is a massive AMG sign attached to the building, probably just to advertise the brand.
I'm sure there are techs at every main dealer fully trained to work on all AMG models.

Just like the shiny AMG palace in Swindon , half of the floorspace is earmarked for AMG , but they can't properly identify the rear brake calliper's and pads on my AMG when parts are required.

Oh , thats right , it's a 2006 AMG and I did not buy it from them . Blank looks all round . Rant over
