AMG Replicas - split rim style

I'm interested when Mercedes started offering a six wheeler in the E class range :D

his description of "odd kerb marks" doesn't quite match the pics

For the caravan as well of course!

Check the offset !!!

Graham , the ones i got off you, i put on at the weekend, without checking the offset, my w124 offset is ET25 , the wheels i got from you are ET35 .....

Anyway, long story short, i put them on the rears without checking, tightened up the nuts and didnt nitice they were sitting 5-10 mm deeper into the wheel than before, consequently i knocked the handbrake shoes off the inside of the drum which sits inside the disc on the rear, locking the back wheels up and i was unable to move ........

Spent the rest of the day sorting out this nightmare...... calipers off, big hammers, etc etc etc ....

So, now i have two wheels that dont fit !! anyone want to buy two wheels, ET35, 7.5 x 17" with reasonably serviceable Bridgestone 225/45/17's on them ?

that's not to do with offset Howard - that's due to the wheel bolts being too long.

standard offset for a W124
on 6.5J rims is ET48
on 7J rims is ET41
on 7.5J rims ET34

your 25s are a mile off what you should have - the ones Graham supplied are correct :)

Ah !!!! thats interesting........

obviously they guy who owned it before me, went for the wrong offset but got longer wheel bolts......

Ok, next question, where do i get shorter wheel bolts from ? these wheels have quite a deep hole where the bolt goes !

Andy, i appreciate this information, i had been wondering what the correct offset for a 7.5 x17 rim was.

So, the upshot of it is, that i can fit Grahams wheels but need shorter bolts .... excellent !! :D

Gunny, my polished rims have been laquered quite thickly, and seemed to be ok, until i kerbed them ! :(

Cheers all !!

p.s. Andy, its not dangerous to leave my existing wheels (et25) on is it, please say no, as i can't afford any new wheels at the moment !! and it seems to have been driving ok for the past year i've had it .....

Lol !! always the way isn't it !!

Thanks anyway Marc - i wasn't aware that i needed them until the weekend !!

nah it's not dangerous - if my maths are correct an et25 will push the outer edge of the rim away from the centre of the car by about 12mm compared to standard. It may have a slightly derogatory effect on the steerings ability to self centre or may make it "snatch" at full left or right lock but nothing to stress about and nothing you won't just take for granted until you get the right setup on there.

the new bolts (shorter) bolts should be available from either the dealers, aftermarket shops or second hand from any Merc breaker - how long are your existing bolts?

Ummmm, will have to take one off and measure it.....

but about 100/110 mm ??

if that's the thread/shaft length no wonder you hit the handbrake pads when you tightened them up

I think the standard is about 40mm shaft with 30mm thread for alloys and about 28mm for steels - I am willing to be corrected on this - I'll measure one of mine later if you need confirmation.
