I'm a maybe - will see on dates and plans etc.
Thx,

Lopez, thats good news mate, what about your mate Gary (appeared at the Bluewater meet, with the S65AMG), he did Goodwood a little while back and loved it, would he be intrested..?

Just a quick thanks to all you guys who have posted up your intrest for this day, as soon as we get a few more I will post up the possible dates left in the Goodwood Calendar, and see if we can get a date for the majority, I am sure people will drop out due to the date selection, so the more names the better now, once the 25 no. parties are there, great, should we be over subscribed though, I feel its only fair that the first intrested parties as posted are given priority, with the following others in reserve if anyone drops out, Hope you all feel this is fair. Thinking this could well get off the ground now!

Right,

I've been giving this some thought and I reckon I'm in too.

I also have spare wheels in the garage with continentals on, so I reckon I am equiped in that sense.

It would depend on the date though... not necessarily due to plans, but more due to the weather.

For example, over the last couple of years, we've had snow etc almost up until the middle of April.

If the track day is earlier than May, then I'll probably have to give it a miss due to salt, ice/snow, or unfavourable track conditions.

Bitch at me if you want, but that's the way it is!

Right, money...

I am half Indian, so there is at least half of me that is compelled to ask about the money aspects. LOL! :D

So, it's £310 each, right?

Do I pay a deposit first and then pay the rest 2 days before?

When would I have to pay this and who do I pay it to?

Track insurance:
Did you mention that this can be purchased at the track, or will I have to arrange my own cover through my insurance company or other?

Rashman, good your potentially on board, it,ll be good to see you and your 63.
Just to answer a couple of your queries;
Dates not up yet, need to check with Goodwood whats left, will post these dates up next week, and we can debate the majority voted day, whoever has to drop out from a date issure, so be, it has to be majority rule as the numbers wont be met.
Monies, yes £310 each, a deposit of £1500 has to paid to GW to secure the date, and balance 2 weeks before proposed day, (I will raise this issure next week along with the dates), I,d rather have the monies paid directly to Goodwood, but will discuss this with them on Monday.
Individual car insurance for yourself or others that feel they may need it, would have to be brought by yourselves from your own current insuring party, or a specialist insurance body. Its not cheap and is generally limited cover, so if of intrest to you all, explore the cover limitations with whoever you choose. What I would add the 8-9 days I have been on, only seen 1 no. bad crash, porsche 944, far too hard in very wet conditions, I only ever insured first time, and have not bothered since. Its a well marshalled circuit, any misbehaviour driving wise, you,ll be pulled in, continue, and you,ll be out! No one wants idiots out there, very much moreso, when hopefully the major part of our group all know each other, and respect duly all our cars, its a fun day, not a race day, when you can push your car a little harder than you can legally do out on the public highways, I will tell you for those who have not done a TD, its a big big thrill. Lets hope it all gets together.

Hey Ricky,

I assume the £1500 is a total deposit, and not £1500 each.

Insurance... hmm, ok, I'll make some enquiries.

£1500 total deposit Rashman, Albeit I want to discuss with GW next week how to get 25 people to pay for deposit and final balance, wihout making it messy and uncontrolable, as I have no urge myself to be in control or process these monies, will advise next week. Have a good weekend

Guys, would you have any concern or problems with my pal Nigel attending with his RS6? I told him about this and he asked if he could attend but said to ask you guys first!

Cheers

Benjy, I have no problem with Nigel attending this day myself, whilst it would be good to keep it all AMGs within the forum, (sure he came up to one of Rashmans Bluewater meet, bit of a beast I seem to recall), the fact of the matter, will be, that once the final push comes, date, payment, holidays etc, some of the current parties will drop out, and to keep this idea floating and viable, (remember 25 cars) it might be nescessary to have 1 or 2 outsourced entrants, albeit persons at least known to most of us to help the cause. Hope everyones OK with this.

Snowed in, so weekends down the lane! so I thought I,d draught up the existing list of intrested parties to date.... and subject to date as declared by many, which is understandable.

1. Black C55
2. C240 sport 97
3. Alps
4.Wemorgan (non AMG)
5. Petermansell.
6. C43 AMG
7. Flanaia 1. (non AMG)
8. Beninlux
9. Alx
10.Marty 359
11. Mika Hakkinen
12.DVD 247
13. Buccal
14. Matty 13
15. Benjy
16.The Don
17.Lopes 80
18.Jeff Web
19.Kamal Patel 12448
20. Rashman
21. Nigel ( Benjys mate.. not mercedes)
22. Ricky S.

Nearly there no. wise, be back to you all with available dates from GW next week, so as to discuss through holiday period, who wants what date.

A couple of photos as a taster from a Goodwood day last year that I went on. 1 is of myself discussing the virtures of an E55 against the Ferrari California, another of the guys awaiting to leave the pit lane, and the third of a couple of guys entering/exiting the chicane back onto the pitlane straight

Can i ask about tyres please....
summer road tyres, are they ok?
if im at the point of changing what is recommended ive heard someone mention Toyo's (soft compound) or should i just get some cheap uns
Should i expect the tyres to be shot at the end of the session ?
and what of the brakes ?
Ive not taken my own car on a trackday before so am a little in the dark

Hi Ricky, your e55 looks really sweat! thank you for all your efforts and looking forward to seeing a meeting other AMG owners plus the others who want to attend in non AMG's, I agree also that if it's a choice of no event or allowing non AMG's then it's a no brainer!.

Mika, normal tyres are okay, really depends how you drive on the day, road legal race tyres are an excelent choice for a track day and summer driving, I'm thinking of replacing mine in a couple of months and I'm thinking along those lines, Toyo's, Yokahama's etc.

Hi DVB
thanks for your advice
I've just read the spec on your car...it sounds fabulous
look forward to seeing you:thumb:

I would also potentially throw my hat into the ring. Not interested in going balls-out but it would be nice to give the car a quick run ;) without the fear of a NIP afterwards..

Cheers,

Gaz

Gaz, no need to go full out, you,ll be OK, this sought of day is to enjoy at your own pace, be assured once you get some instruction by the GW instructors, you will get faster, but do/go it at your own pace, there will always be faster cars, more experienced drivers on the circuit, than lots of the guys here already up for this day, but we are proposing 5 cars per session lots of space to get use to it, but still go your own pace, all these faster cars, experienced drivers have been in the same position as you before. I recall a day early last year when a SLK200 was out nearly every session, with various people sharing the car with the instructor, they all had a ball. I,d warn you by 4pm that day you,ll be worn out, and high on the day for the next 48hours, Thanks for your intrest, be in touch

Mika, as DVD, your normal road tyres will be OK, I,ve run both PS2s 18" and Contis 19" on all my days, and both sets still have good life in them still. Get the road tyre you favour, this is not going to be F1. This said you C63 boys seem to be getting through your tyres quite rapidily on the road anyway! Tooo Muuccch throttle!

Just spotted the post, and throwing my hat in as well.
Standard proviso's (not money) but date.
For my two penny's worth, later in the year is better for me. .
Work reasons . .

Hope it comes off, and tell you what .. this has to be good enough for a magazine feature or some PR for some guys / companies etc. . just a thought?

Interested subject to dates like everyone else I think.
