So I've been very happy with my CLK55 AMG and had it from new in July 2003. But they don't make them anymore so what are people's thoughts regarding an Alpina B3?

It appears to tick my wish list
Auto
Coupe
Fits in my garage
Distronic equivalent
Exclusive but not flashy or too noticeable
Fast
Fun
Can take 4 adults if needed

Have any of you had an Alpina and come over the MB?

Yes, but only old models, B10 3.5 (5 series E28 and 7 series E23) to 500E and E60 amg (W124) and E55 AMG W210
Sorry, I know that wont help you , but I just had to mention some great cars, even if they are a little too old now:rolleyes:

Alpinas and AMG, I dont think you can go wrong, always more money than their standard counterparts, but much more enjoyable:bannana:

Regards,

Terry.

I think AMG are much closer to Alpina than BMW M cars to be honest.
Alpina are great. I got a C55 cos I couldn't find a B5 touring or afford a new B3 touring. Very nice car, you'll notice the fuel economy is much much better and the performance about the same :)
Go for it

No personal experience of Alpina's, but always been a fan of their cars.

For me they do the work where it matters (engine & interior trim) leaving the outside looking very understated with subtle body kits and stylish but not flashy wheels. Not too keen on some of the Alpina decals though, they're a bit 1970's looking but very few seem to have them.

I'd love a B10 V8S touring, but there's only 3 or 4 RHD in the UK so doubt I'd ever find one. Right now if I were to replace the C43 would be either one of those or a W202 C55.

Btw, just thought I'd add. Yes had an alpina, great car, almost faultless and very cheap to run compared to an M car, but with the same performance.
