AMG warranties

I wonder if some customers have been mislead to think they needed to take finance in order to benefit from the 2-year approved used warranty…?🤔:doh:

That could be a big possibility, I have gone through 2 AMGs so far and currently own 1 and all got their warranties as standard while not going through their finance.

I purchased my AMG from Sytner Mercedes in Western Super Mare in October 2023, I didn't use their finance and got a 2 year Warranty.
 
I've not used Mercedes Loughborough's finance and I'm getting the 2 year warranty.

Big shout out to them, so far they've been excellent to deal with.
 
2 year warranty was standard on AMG models. I bought mine from mercedes in York and they have been great to deal and even months after sorted out any issues promptly.

I have a 2 year used AMG warranty and have found the local dealer more knowledgeable on warranty queries than the Mercedes Head Office helpline. Consequently the dealer will be my first point of contact and then they can contact Head Office themselves for queries/approval.
 
Inchcape group offer a 3 year extended warranty (underwritten by car care plan) for £1600 ish for the whole term.

I've not looked into exclusions etc and I appreciate this kind of product is where dealer's make money, but the salesman seemed to think it was a decent product.

He reckoned it even covered catalytic converters.

Anybody looked into one at all?
 
I personally think warranties are extremely subjective and very much depend on the supplying dealer. Every time I’ve had a warranty on a used car, trying to claim for anything was like trying to knit fog.

Much better to put that money into a slush fund in case of problems, particularly as most of what will fail will almost certainly be excluded anyway.

That's my gut feeling.

I'd definitely never buy an RAC warranty again. Only thing that was useful for was the breakdown cover (although never used it).

They were a nightmare to deal with.

Good example, I have the remains of a 6 month third party warranty on my E63S, which had a new battery on Tuesday - not covered obviously (not that I’d expect it to of course),

Next up will be brakes toward the end of the year, not covered…..I just don’t have the time or inclination to have those kind of arguments with warranty companies - time is precious.
 
Brakes and batteries are obvious "consumables" or "wear and tear" items so excluded from nearly every warranty.

Rac refused to pay up on injectors on my wife's previous car (Toyota Rav4). They agreed to pay for one, problem came back after it had been fitted. 2 independent garages (one main dealer) said all 4 need replacing.... RAC were useless. Ended paying in full ourselves.

I can kind of see their point tbh. One breaking is a failure.....but all four failing at the same time??....unlikely and far more likely to be wear and tear. I used to have similar discussions with customers all the time.
 
Yes I know, my point is most of them are absolutely worthless in my opinion.
I tend to agree....but it only takes one expensive item that IS covered and its different story.

The garages basically couldn't diagnose which cylinder was causing the problem (although initially the code was for 1 cylinder) and said the only way forward was to change all 4.

RAC wanted us to pay for an independent specialist to come out (at our own cost) to confirm the diagnosis, having already paid Toyota and an independent more than one diagnostic fee already.

It was an intermittent fault and just trying to get to the garage with an active code was troublesome.

At 50k miles and 13 years old, I doubt it was wear and tear, unless short journeys had caused issues.

The point is, they were an insured part causing problems and the warranty was all but useless.
