An unmarked cop got me

Hard luck Steve, :(

Sometimes you just get unlucky. Only consolation is it's just £60 and 3 points and not a ban.

Still feels like a good slap though eh!!!

Mark.

Feels like a big slap and I shall now behave much more on the roads. My insurers will love this and was looking forward to a cheaper premium (but not now)....

Oldcro, 1hr 1 mins is fairly significant, at google maps speed by the time I'd be just south of bristol, I was at Torquay. In reverse that means by the scottish border at google speeds, I 'd be in Glasgow with *** speeds.

Chin up - learn the lesson.

Most of us have been over the speed limit at one time or another - some, no doubt, a lot quicker than you were caught at.

Take the 3 points and the fine. You got lucky.

I shall. Its been a long time coming and thankful it wasn't at a time when I have driven faster than 96mph....

Do I need to tell my insurer now, or can I wait until the endorsment is added to my licence.

You wait until you are convicted - the FPN is an invitation, not a final decision.

its ****e that Steve got caught, but I got the same fine and points for stopping in a one way street, 10:30 pm as my back end was over the lines of a crossing :(

Time to change your name from *** to FPN1 now Steve.

Sounds like she was very gentle on you.

Swallow the points, pay the fine and next time, go supersonic. :D

Obviously the Romulan Cloaking Device you bought at that last Star Trek Convention wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
Seriously its a bit of a sickener when it happens but usually has the desired effect on one's driving habits---at least for a while. ;) Often seems to happen when you are driving on unfamiliar territory.:(

So lads, a ton may be fun, but its expensive fun.

Oh well.....live and learn so they say.

You wouldn't have gone much faster on a track day and that would have cost you much more!

You were very lucky imo - why don't you produce in England? nice excuse for a GTG.

You done well to get a FPN. 100mph is an automatic disqualification in court. Considering the distance you confess to travelling at 100, you could have been arrested for dangerous driving, I know nothing happened but what if it did...
Not sticking up for the law, Ive been caught myself so I know how your feeling.

You may be arrested for dangerous driving, but it'll be hard to prove in court.

In the grille and on the rear of the car. Could't tell if the rears were tinted as was sat upfront in the car.

Also seems strange it was a 1 police officer who was female. What if I had been a kenneth noye type or something. I did feel that "mercia" police haven't given this woman much consideration of her safety.

I had a narrow escape on the A19 in the early hours of the morning a few years back. Pulled by single female cop in a marked Volvo, had gunned me from a bridge then caught and followed me for quite some distance. When the blues came on I kind of had that sinking feeling.

Got into her car to see the Vascar showing 117.5mph, over 2 miles. Quick thinking saved the british public the cost of a trial - I was driving a 2.0 spacewagon, do you think a judge would believe that it can go that fast, because mitsubishi don't.

Had a lecture about speeding delivered quietly and politely and was allowed on my way...

Is this the start of a "Does my bum look big in this thread?":devil:

To ***, as others have said you were lucky to get away with a FPN. No criticism from me as there for the grace of God etc.

Sorry to hear of your brush with the law. I've had points in the past so I'm not speaking as one who is squeaky clean but simply one who has found a way round the problem.
Working on many long distance races like Le Mans you become very aware that it is the average speed which is most important. Stopping for whatever reason (fuel, talk to Feds! etc) ruins it.
Over the past ten years I have given up seeing how fast I can get somewhere and now see how efficiently I can achieve the same journey. I know you use your MPG gauge and the game I play is to see the greatest possible combined average MPG and MPH figure. I have found the overall journey times are very similar, I save a stack of fuel and I have had no points for over ten years.
Just a thought.:o

How does that work then? If your offence was in England and you were stopped in England, It should have nothing to do with the scottish courts. Also, a FPN is a 'Provisional' offer by the police, as long as you accept it and pay the fine, the matters finished, there will be no court appearance.

Is another quirk of Scottish law if you are domiciled in Scotland and the offence occurs in England the offence will be dealt with by Scottish Courts not English. Therefore any documents that need to be produced need to be produced in Scotland.

A mate of mine from London who lives in Scotland got stopped on the M6 near Coventry at 105 mph,was summonsed but case was tried in Aberdeen , 3 month ban and £280 fine.

This was the case 3 years ago so presume it's still the same?

Steve didn't you get a speeding FPN a little while back, which you posted on here?

No. I nearly got done by a camera van on the m9. Was sitting pretty at 130+ on the speedo. Managed to slow down in time (could see for over a mile).

I can accept the punishment as I have done the crime, but I do think there has to be better use of police resources than patroling a near deserted motorway where no real danger is present in the hope of nabbing someone.

Had a similar experience, on the M4 some 10 years ago. Clocked by an unmarked volvo, doing average of 98.6mph.

Quote 'Your driving is pinpoint perfect, just way too fast'.

FPN, 3 points, Fine. Considered myself very lucky. And it prompted me to do the IAM - which has proven invaluable (no not for points avoidance, but for the purpose of learning more about my own capabilities).
