Another black series steering wheel!

I've just been to Sportech in Ilkeston today to get the airbag light reset.
Star is saying 'low resistance' so the guy said it's either a wiring fault, airbag fault or it's incompatible!
Will go back in the next week or two with the old airbag and they'll do some further checks.
I'll post the outcome or any further info in the main thread.

That's exactly what the DIAG tech told me about my non-functioning buttons. He said the airbag was incompatable with the car!!
I still think it's either the contact spiral not matching the airbag of the SCM needs coding for the different 'bag.

I would be very interested in what you find out, kjay!

Have you guys had a word with Steve (MBenzNL).?

He has completely re-wired his W203, fitting W211 clusters, steering wheels, adding linquertronic (sp?) and distronic.

He maybe able to point you towards (or even sell you) the required moduals.

Thanks. Just waiting for my wheels should be ready middle of next week, thats all exterior mods completed then onto the paddle shift mod. Do like the BS wheel, but have brand new C55 wheel with paddle shift so happy to save £700 odd quid for the BS wheel and airbag on getting parts and modules etc for the mod.

As Kjay says need to keep posting as the paddle shift mod needs to be done.

Whats required to make the paddle shift work?

Theres a whole thread by Kjay devoted to this issue.

Any help or advice most welcome.

Surely the steering wheel paddles are only another extension of the triptronic switch on the box already.

They are not mechanical basically just a switch - I have them on mine and never use them, TBH you could probably run a wire from the wheel to the auto lever to get them to work - This may disable the trip function on the lever though.

If you know what i mean.

Andy I thought that would be possible too. Just piggyback off the switch. Probably not that easy though!
