Hello again

i've done the usual thing but using the search bar here but cant seem to find anything like my issue so.....

i walked out this morning to clean my car after the last owner seemed to use it as a rubbish tip inside but kept the engine and service history perfect which is what i was interested in more anyway back to the problem.

i went to unlock it and..... nothing  so i used the metal key expecting the alarm to wake whole estate but no sound just flashing lights till i put the key in the holder, it starts and drives fine and locks after a few yards of driving

now comes the interesting part, ive checked the No.8 fuse in the rear SAM and thats fine AND it still locks from inside the house it just wont unlock.

ive tried both keys both will LOCK the car but neither will unlock it :dk:

i've not yet unplugged the siren as the Mrs wants to go clothes shopping and as you guys know yourself a happy Mrs means an easier life, so i wont get chance to have a proper look till this afternoon.

ANY help would be much appreciated and gladly received.

Unplug the alarm siren, plug located on rear of siren, it should have sounded when you unlocked the car with the key blade, so it must be defective.
Siren located behind big Yellow arrow.

If no change in the locking problem then unplug all the electrical connections, for 30 minutes, on the central locking vacuum pump. Check the vacuum pump plugs for signs of damp/corrosion.
Leave all the Yellow/White tubes in place.

Also, don’t slam the boot lid shut while the vacuum pump is disconnected. Make sure that the boot can be opened, mechanically, with the emergency key blade in the boot lock, its common for the boot lock to seize up through lack of use.

Thanks Dec looks like i'll be getting oily tomorrow morning with the siren

Update on the locking after i drove the car about 12miles into town today i got out locked it as normal then thought i would try to unlock it and ...... it worked so i'm thinking its either the car battery is close to death or a loose connection that shook back into a working position ??

any thoughts ???

What about the buttons on your remote, when you press the lock button the Red LED light on the remote illuminates, same happens when you press unlock button, check the spare remote to see if it is doing the same.

Were the remote batteries changed since you got the car?

The car wouldn’t have started if the car battery didn’t have enough juice to unlock the car.

sorry for the late reply i was called away with work.

it seems to work ok while its warm first thing in the morning it doesn't seem to unlock and the radio has EXTREMELY bad static even when its switched off could it be the signal booster as i've read a few things that could link it all together

the batteries in both remotes are new and the red light flashes when i press the lock and unlock buttons

The back window is the antenna for the remote fob and the radio, maybe the radio is interfering with the remote fob signal.

Try disconnecting the radio by unplugging it at its rear, it will have 2 power supplies, one is live only with ignition ON and the other live supply is live all the time so as to retain radio preset station memory.

Disconnecting the alarm siren should still be done as it is faulty, the car radio is associated with the alarm in that it is a trigger for the alarm.
