Some idiot left his 'artwork' on the bonet of my car, so bonet needs complete respray. Any ideas of cost involved ? Tealite blue if it makes difference.

Hey Voya, sorry to hear this mate. Bloody annoying scum bag twits.

Not sure what your insurance excess is but for a complete bonnet spray you are probaly looking at around 400.00 plus vat from a reputable body sprayer.

There are so many jealous @@nkers out there. Bring on the days of cheap in car CCTV ehhh

Sorry to hear about your bonnet...

£300 mark I would say BUT it must be an approved MB bodyshop if you do not want to invalidate your Mobilo cover on bodywork if have to make future claims.

Matching the paintwork will be the biggest challenge!!!

Good luck...

thanks...

Called police. Dont think thats gona do any good. Can't claim on insurance was stupid enough not to protect no claim. Thinking on taking the car to MB Dealer. Waiting on call back from dealer with a quote.
Would feel so much better if knew who was it ...

Oh well, rant over

Find out who the Stealer's approved bodyshop is otherwise Stealership may possibly make a "mark up" on the quote!!!

There are alot of threads about protecting your ability to claim under the 30year mobilo guarantee. Some people have succeeded in claiming without full main dealer service history. So, really, go to an approved bodyshop as Flash says. It will be cheaper. I was originally quoted about £1,400 by a main dealer to get a bonnet replaced and painted for a w202 but going direct to the approved bodyshop saved me about £700 . Mind they did want to spray the wings too so as the bonnet would blend in better from a paint matching point of view - so >£400 quoted here - whether this was worth it is another story - I mention it because they may say the same to you. So £400 seems reasonable to me.
At the end of the day, its the people who pay main dealer labour rates that 'pay' for mobilo claims in advance! I prefer to save money now and keep an eye out for rust. Note, it would be wise to ask the bodyshop to have a look around the car at the same time. I have no idea if yours is a w211 or the earlier w210 - if w210 then looking for rust is worthwhile.

you could try looking on the net for some "higher-quality" car breakers. You may be able to find a rear ended car with the same colour as yours and just swap the bonnets around. probably £200 or so. But it may be difficult finding the right car.

was the "artwork" key scraping or was it spray paint? have u tried using t-cut or something? probably have already but i thought i'd mention it :)

good luck m8, sorry to hear about this. scum eh?

hope its not gonna end up being 1400

its key scratch but someone has used force ie you can see the white 'whatever' underneath the paint. Fairly friendly with dealer so will try to find out approved bodyshop.

Thanks for all replies.

Car is w211 in tealite.

Stealerships are obliged to tell you who they sub contract their bodywork tooi f not done in house... Personally, I would find out who the bodyshop are then deal directly with them for the quotation... Very few Staelerships have their own in-house bodyshops or even MOT test station and sub contratc all the work out locally...

Bodyshop estimate

Because the damage is close to wings they'll need to do at least one wing 'to blend'. Estimate will be sent to me but rough guide 500-800. Anyone knows mb approved shop (london-or-thereabouts) thats likely to be cheaper please tell.

Day Out

If you fancy a day out to Brighton, a bodyworks place called "Portslade Panelworks" - http://www.portsladepanelworks.co.uk are excellent and cheap.

Some muppet took a chunk of my paintwork from the bumper and wing. They did it in a day, superbly finished and blended well, great service, and that is something coming from a miser like me!

So, bring the car down, easy of the A23, jump on the bus (every 5mins and only way to get about in the City) and spend the day down the Lanes, on the Beach, Pier etc, get back to the car refreshed and smile smugly as you drive home.

they are MB approved and certified, do Porsche as well, and when I was there there was an Aston in the dock!!

Mine cost £235 last year.

Good luck

Thanks Flash

Went to R & C motor company that Flash kindly recomended, thanks man, and they did awesome job. Colour matching and the whole job is awesome. And I consider myself very difficult customer if something is not 'perfect'. Not cheap (came to around £650) BUT well worth it.
