Hi

Does anyone know the correct MB or compatable antifreeze for my '85 230ce w123 ?

Having read through previous threads, there are differing opinions about the subject. Also,MB antifreeze part number MA000 989 0825 11 has been quoted for questions relating to later models.Spec. MB325.3 has been mentioned.

Would either be recommended for w123's?

many thanks Steve

Ditto Jay.
Any antifreeze for mixed metal engines should do as long as it conforms to BSxxxx.
Comma is one of the best and is used by some prestige manufacturers as factory fill as it has a wetting agent that causes the glycol to blend better with the water so gives better cooling properties. This was the Coldstream product, but they might all have the same properties now.

yes the comma stuff is good,

anyway just out of interest anyone know the volume of a cooling system approx, need to flush the system on my sisters hyundai so wandering how much coolant to get

Thanks guys for your advice about the comma antifreeze.

Went over to halfords.Found they stock only their own brands-one standard all year coolant without any specifications-one 'superior' coolant with specifications including MB 325.3 (£15.99/5ltrs),and finally, ready-mixed solution with spec. to MB 325.3 (13.99/5ltrs).

Tried my local motor factors who only stock a brand (forget the name) without any spec, although an all year coolant for all engines. They also stock de-ionised water at £2.69/5ltrs.

Think I'll go for the halfords MB 325.3 and mix with the de-ionised water.

Cheers Steve

why not ask how much the genuine article is, I have been suprised at the prices on many occasions.
