Anyone got any tips of what they use to clean inside the engine. I have a cover thingy thats ort of plastic, what is safe to use on that? I heard that jetspraying the engine can lead to all kinds of bother?

Thanks for the advise.

Cheers
Ian

I think i used Autoglym rubber and plastic cleaner or somethin' like that

Are you trying to shift that lovely oil/road dirt mix or just general dust & grime?

If former Gunk, stiff brush & careful use of low pressure hose. If just honest dust & grime an old sponge soaked with car body shampoo mix followed by old rags, etc and a bit of a rinse goes a long way but is slow.

Unless shifting an oil spill or similar disaster, rather than have a huge engine cleaning splurge I normally just do a bit of engine bay cleaning each time I wash the car.

Never use a pressure washer unless cleaning off something solid like sump pan or gearbox and even then make sure you do not blast anything painted nor near a seal or grommet! I am sure these devices were invented by Imps of Satan to spread misery & woe.

In addition to the advice above, I would also shield anything electrical looking with plastic carrier bags before jetting / hosing your engine bay !!
