Hey guys my maps are pretty old 2010 I think, My local Merc dealer quoted me £199 for the update or £350 for a brand new updated Becker Box with the latest maps, I currently have the MO13 model, just wondering if anyone on here has updated their Becker recently?

Thanks

My 2014 A Class had Becker Map Pilot, the Map Updates were all done online, the first one was free as you had to register it with Becker and download the Software, Speed Cameras were extra £24 ish!

Try plugging yours into your PC and accessing Beckers Website! :)

If it is the Becker module in the glovebox which I believe it should be, then you remove the unit from the car first. Then go to the Becker website, register and download the software onto your PC (or Mac) making sure the disk you install it into has at least the amount of space space for the size of the Becker unit (8Gb for example). Once installed, connect up you Becker unit to your PC (USB to Micro USB cable required). You device should then be recognised and associated with your account. You can then buy the latest map updates (latest version came out very recently I believe) and any other options you want such as speed camera database. Maps are around 89 Euro's I believe, they have stopped the 129 Euro 2 year deal unfortunately.

Becker site is at: Harman Becker Shop

My A45 had this and it’s what the others have said. I would add I remember it being very clunky i.e. you must do things in the right order. There’s instructions. You should have a red USB lead with the car. It’s that one you use to connect the unit to your laptop or pc. Also you may need an SD card if you want to add extra maps like Europe and that but the download shows the size. Had to clear space on mine before I could update

You can use any data USB cable, the need to use a special cable is just a myth. As long as it is a data cable and not just a charging cable it will work.

Hey Guys

Thanks for getting back to me, I found a ebayer doing the maps and guide to update for only £12.99 and sends them globaly, all working perfect!!! So saved £175! so great.

Im a new member but this community seems very welcoming, if anyone was having the same issue as me & were being absoloutely ripped off and extorted by the dealership, defo give ebay a try, the link above is what i purchased.

That has screwed over many Becker units from taking future updates. really don't recommend doing this. You may get lucky that it will take another update on the future but many haven't.

What do you mean? my maps were 2009 I think so literaly pretty useless, and now Im 2018 with no issues at all, I have kept my factory files as the seller gives the correct tools so if i ever need to go back to my factory 2009 maps and configuartion, its only a 2 min job, but I think 2018 will give me atleast untill 2021 before I need to update :), my becker is way out of warranty anyway so im not fussed.
