Hi all,

I am considering buying a CLK 320 but want to know more about the servicing costs.

All I hear is that it's ridiculously high at the main dealers. Does anyone know of good independent garages in the Staffordshire area?

What about the price for a basic and full service?

Can anyone give me some prices for the parts that they have had replaced from having a service?

I was also surprised that some insurers wouldn't let me have an online insurance quote unless I had a tracker. Although I found that Tesco would do it and it worked out cheaper in the long run because I wouldn't have to pay for the tracker subscription.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Andy

It may depend upon where you are, but I have used Andy Gayle following recomendation on this forum, and he's very good, and well priced.

It's a bugger of a journey for me (40-odd miles), so I also use my main dealer.

i know good one in dudley x merc man let me know i give you his no ta

We can offer servicing too if we are closer, discount for MB Club members...

That's worth knowing, because you're a lot closer to me than Andy is, and it would be good to meet soon.

My coupe is due a service before long, so I'll be on the blower.

Can't comment on local specialists, but you're correct regarding main dealer prices, Loughborough Merecedes now charge £99.85 + vat per hour, and £120.00 + vat for AMG models IIRC.

Expensive parts that commonly fail include MAF sensor (£250 approx), cats (around £1200 fitted at MB).

I also found that some insurance companies require a tracker, but Admiral didn't, and were MILES cheaper for me than anyone else too. (34 years old, 1 years no claims, £385)
