Anyone know where i can get a rear shocker from?

My CL was always ok strut wise...but I did price up, I think new from MB they are circa £1350...

Flushing the system should help get rid of most particles but it needs to be done more than once to be effective. Changing the hydraulic fluid is an easy enough task to be performed without the need for visiting the dealer, other than to stock up on fluid and filters.

The sagging issue when parked has been discussed at length on American Mercedes forums with some people suggesting that according to main dealers even a brand new car will eventually sag if left sitting for long. The issue is purely cosmetic and doesn't not affect the ABC directly other than possible damage of front wings if steering is left turned either way.

I appreciate that wether Airmatic or Hydraulic the suspension on these cars would always sag if left for long enough, but 2 hours is cause for concern. Prior to this the car has been sat many a time for nearly a week with no movement what so ever.

I will keep an eye on it over the next few days, but from what your saying it seems i might need a different part altogether. So fingers crossed i might even be able to rebuild this from the video link earlier.

Iv already spoken to them guys about getting one and they have told me due to stock not arriving they cant do anything for me until end of August :(

I was hoping you might not see this because i dont want you to be put off by it. But its something every ABC owner has to go through apparently.

Despite the ABC problems which I am completely aware of, this still hasn't put me off buying this car. I know its an expensive system when it goes wrong and I know for definitely that my time will come.

End of AUG......

I'll keep looking for you!!!

Give Acid a call at MSL Birmingham and see what he can offer.

Im already in talks with him and he's got one from a CL55, but a pre-kompressor version, so we're not too sure if its the same thing. Still investigating.

Trust me, i know this is a bit of a ball ache, but i still love the car, especially after everything that was done to it on the Eurocharged day, This hasnt made me want to sell the car or put me off it, its just caught me at a bit of a bad time. :(

Ok, just done a few DIY tests on the car to see what it does.

Iv left the car idling on one spot and noticed the suspension slowly creeping upwards as the pressure is building inside the system. This is normal and the car has always done this.

Turned the car off and noticed its sank by about 2cm's in an hour.

Unless someone can suggest otherwise, Im guessing from the previous posts that i should now be looking at the Valve Block and not the shocker itself, or atleast get the Valve Block cleaned out and then see what it does???

Early valve block solenoids are held in with circlips - later ones are sealed in with epoxy I believe?? If its one you can strip be scrupulous in observing cleanliness!

I take it as only the one with the circlips can be cleaned? The one with the epoxy sealent will have to be binned?

And is there a way of telling which one has circlips and which one has the epoxy sealent, part numbers, date stamps etc etc? I dont want to remove it only to find it cant be repaired.

I dont know if this has ever been replaced before or not but the car is on a 2004 plate if that makes it any clearer as to wether it should have circlips.

Thanks.

This thread has pictures of the old and new type body- sorry I don't know when the change over occurred. W215 ABC Pump/Valve Block/HPE Hose Repair (21 Pictures) - Benzworld.org - Mercedes-Benz Discussion Forum

the parts nos old/new are detailed here

ABC Valve A2203201258 or A2203200358 - Benzworld.org - Mercedes-Benz Discussion Forum

From previous paperwork that came with the car it seems that the ABC pump was replaced in 2007 by Mercedes themselves. From what i can tell on the actual pump itself its still the older design pump made by LUK.

From other research it seems the new improved ABC parts were manufactured in late 2008/early 2009 by a different company.

Apart from the Pulsation Damper which we changed ourselves a few months ago i dont think anything else has ever been changed on the ABC system, or if it has been changed it will be of the older style. Which may be good news for me in that this valve block can be repaired.

I think i need a few more instructions on removal and it should be good to take out and inspect.
