HI!

I'm currently looking at S205 C63s.

Anything in particular I need to look out for? It's done done 35000 and seems to have had A, A, B, A, services and is due another B. However, what I can't see is the run-in service. I presume it should have had one would it show on the service history?

Anything else I need to be checking into?

Thanks!!

The first A could be the run in service and the second A could the interval service.

It is worth inspecting the service sheets if they are provided if not contact a dealer if they will kindly let you know on the phone.

I would also suggest looking at the brakes and discs.

Thanks, i'll give them a shout.
If that first A service is the diff oil then it was done at approx 4000 miles when I think it should have been done at 1500 -1800.

Service sheets show the rear discs and pads being done but not the fronts which I find odd.

The running in service on the C63s usually involves rear diff oil change only.

Yep, that's my worry that it's not been done.

They love a coolant leak. The cooling system is ever so complicated so lots of scope to leak. The interiors can rattle and creak. All fixable but takes a long time. They are a great car but I cant help feeling they are more fragile than the 204's

Get it inspected before you buy it by a specialist like me or main dealer.

They go through discs and pads at the back more frequently than some cars I've owned, mainly because the traction control uses the rear brakes to limit wheel spin. I've had my C63S for nearly 3 years and its only had rear pads changed in that time (35k+ miles).

Good to know thanks!

Know anyone in Stafford ;-)

If I'm not mistaken main dealers were veering away from a run in service/rear diff oil change at ~1800 miles. I know it was a requirement in the past, but just after I had one done on a previous car I'm sure we were hearing on here that main dealers were reluctant to perform these services suggesting that they weren't necessary anymore. However, at that time some dealerships were still performing them as a good will gesture, but I wouldn't be surprised if that is a thing of the past now.

I remember some AMG owners were paying for the rear diff oil change when their dealerships wouldn't do it FOC., as mentioned above, it's not expensive.

A quick search shows a couple of threads mentioning your topic.

If it's not convenient to get it to an MB Specialist or main dealer, a mobile specialist inspection service could be an alternative.

Wouldn't normally suggest this on such a young car, but as you're spending £30+k on a car that won't have been used solely to go to Church on Sundays, you might want to think it over.

i did 30k miles in my 2018 s205 c63s, never had any issues. The rear brake pads did need replacing after around 20k miles. The fronts had plenty of use left at that mileage ) One oddity is i never once managed to get the parking assist to work haha but that's user error. MB supposedly did the rear diff at approx 1800 miles , i would assume it shows up as a separate item on the service record, the dealer should be able to tell you before you buy and without them thinking they can fob you off. the estate is a crazy crazy car, all that weight in the back!)

BTW just thinking about it, since my winter tyres (Michelin Alpin PA4, around 6k miles done on them) and rims dont fit on my w212 E63s i would be happy to offload them for a bargain price as i'm unlikely to get another c63s estate (i pondered the idea for a while because i missed the car a lot so never got rid of the tyres). they help a lot during winter for sure.

Just a heads-up that some need a software update in order reset the service counter after the 5th service. I gather it's not all cars but seems to be between 2015 and 2018, just a software glitch but it means a "power train software update" is needed. I've recently found this out on mine so needed to take it to a different specialist.

Yes this affects all/lots of w205s and also W213s

Its not actually an update that you need to do. Just an adjustment on the power train control unit. Takes about 5 mins.

Can't believe my favourite car I ever owned is back on sale!!

And even funnier , the 6.2l e63 I owned at the same time is back on sale too.
I'm so tempted to buy that c63s again , it was such an incredible car. My e63 is faster and more grown up and stable on the road but the charm of the c63 was the fact that it was a practical joke on 4 wheels
