Hi guys, my phone contract is now at the time when I can upgrade my phone. I'm currently using a nokia n-93 which works fine with the comand system in my e class.
I fancy an iphone, but am not sure if it will intergrate with comand. Does anyone know if it works? Has anyone got one working with comand?
Thanks for any help.

Yes it works very well.

I have an IPhone which I can plug into the ipod interface and use as an Ipod plus it pairs up to a Bluetooth HFP cradle and downloads the entire phone book (multiple contacts) to the comand giving access via the comand, linguatronic and steering wheel controls.

Its worth mentioing that (I think!) the N93 is SAP compatable, but the iPhone is not - so if you have the SAP cradle, it will work with the N93 but not the iPhone

So, you need the HFP cradle. The good news is that it is cheaper than the SAP cradle !

I know someone who has one and complains that it freezes occasionally, but that may be just he's.

I always thought that it wasn't recommended to put electrical items in the freezer.........:bannana: or the fridge..................

I like the iphone very similar to use as the iTouch ipod (in fact look almost the same)

Only thing I would miss from my current Orbit is the built in sat nav, ok if you have command but I can use the Orbit in any car and always have TomTom with me :)

I'm leaving it a bit as the 'next' iPhone may have some extras....

Cheers

Thanks, guys. It wasn't the ipod intergration I was really interested in, as I already have an 80gb classic plugged in which works really well with the intergration. It was more just the bluetooth element I was wondering if worked, as I have the little blutooth thingy (in the armrest) and telephone prewiring in my car, which the nokia works fine with. I just wanted to know if it works with that, and has no problem pairing up with it etc.

How do you get he Linguatronic to access the COMAND phonebook (downloaded from the phone)? As far as I have managed to ascertain the Linguatronic phonebook is seperate from the COMAND version.

You have to go into the phone menu by saying telephone, then store number, then add name then it asks if you want to store it as personnel, business or mobile. After that, all you do is say "telephone" (after pressing the linguatronic), then "dial name" she then asks for the name, you say the name, then it repeats your recording back eg dad mobile, then she says "dialing" and hey presto, it works.
Let me know if you get it set up, or need anymore help.

Actually... if you have a hard drive with bearings that are failing, a deep chill in the freezer can revive it long enough to get your data off!

Similarly, computers like a cold & dry environment - see vapochill's cases for proof!

I have an Apple iPhone and I am very happy with it! I have a Brodit cradle in my W163 ML and I have a multimedia interface (see another thread all about this!) and I purchased a cable kit from Apple which both charges the iPhone and also allows me to play the iPod (music and video) through my COMAND using the TV input.

The iPhone also interfaces perfectly with the Sony-Ericsson HFB-30 Bluetooth handsfree kit. I also have a further device which plays the phone audio through the COMAND and mutes it at the same time.

I am really happy with the whole set-up as I can also play my video iPod using the same dock cable so I have a complete solution.

Hope this helps!

Am i the only one that thinks the Iphone is a dissapointment.. i for one will be waiting for the Iphone nano to be invented...

This is bulky, hard to use and if you are a heavy phone user then forget it... hard to use the touch keys and nothing seems to be intuitive..

but then i only had a 10 minute play by which time i felt like crushing it...

one thing i hate is phones that dont do what you want them to do in an instant... hence i stick to Nokia... every time i have gone away i have been bitterly dissapointed..

works fine with my bluetooth module (the little black one with a little blue light) no problem pairing but only reads the phone book and you cannot read your text messages from your comand plus if it is paired and you walk out the car and make a call within a few minutes and stand by your car you need to transfer to i phone mode:eek:

Each to their own I guess - I hate Nokia phones. ;-)
