ATF Oil Change

Gentlemen
I wish to change the ATFluid on my 2002 CL500.
Why can I not just insert my engine oil sucker tube down the gearbox dipstick tube, suck out the old ATF oil, and then replace it with the same amount of new ATF?

You need to change the filter too.

How do you know the current level is 100% ok?

Thanks for your reply, of course I do not know if the current ATF level is OK. Can you point me towards an article explaining how to do the job properly please.
