fudger is right,I don't agree with sealed for life gearbox oil either,if the box goes bang after 3 years because of dirty/bad oil,then merc won't pick up the tab for the replacement box.
the dipstick is not under the sealed cap you are on about,but that is where you check the level,will try and get the part number for you,also get a new clip for the bung,as you have to break it to get the bung out of the tube.

do you know the correct procedure for checking the oil level,pretty sure it will be ok,unless it jerky when changing gear or setting off.
if its a sealed for life box you will need to get the special synthetic oil for it from the main dealer,make sure you get the right one.
