Auto gearbox reset?

Is it possible to reset the auto gearbox on my C63 (or any Merc for that matter) so that it begins to learn my driving style from new? I could do this on my BMW 330i by driving at less than 20mph and pulling on both paddles at the same time and holding for a few seconds.

The reason why I ask, which may be completely unrelated, is that I get a delay engaging Drive or Reverse from Neutral. I thought perhaps it could do with a reset.

Thanks

When you say delay, do you mean hesitant acceleration ie, slow throttle response, or is the engine revving, and the gear not engaging (like a slipping clutch)?

Basically the gearbox slows me down when I want to do a quick 3 point turn. It takes a second, maybe two between engaging Drive or Reverse and then actually moving. No point increasing throttle as I can feel it's not ready.

Thanks, interesting read. The posts are dated 2006 so not sure they apply to w204. Still, bizarre process.

It doesn't reset the gearbox, it just fools the car into thinking that you're driving at eleven tenths and so sharpens it's reactions for a short time.

You can get the same effect by pulling out of a junction on to a de restricted dual carriageway, and giving it full beans for a sling as you dare...

...Admittedly that's a riskier proposition, the faster the car!!

Mine does the same, maybe not a whole second, but it does take a little time to think about what I want before it gives it me. I've noticed it more at traffic lights, if I stop for a few minutes, I slip it into neutral, as the lights change to amber, I select drive, by the time they change to green it's about ready to go.

Not sure if a re-map and gearbox map could sort this out?

I always drive in comfort too, so it sets off in second, and uses a different reverse gear too I believe?

I've not tried it in sport or manual to see if it's any better.

On my E55k, four quick taps of the upchange on the steering wheel resets it. Different car, granted, but maybe same methodology :dk:

It needs a adaption re-set with a Star.

The link is complete BS. I've proved it does FA.
