Approx 9 weeks ago a stone smashed the passenger side front window on my C350... 10 reg car with 10K miles.

Car went to my local MB franchise this week for the power steering recall on all C350's built between June 2009 & Feb 2010.

MB checked the car over & found AUTO WINDSCREENS haven't reconnected the passenger side courtesy light, the one you can see when the door is open and there is glass rattling around inside the door. Autowindscreens told me the glass would fall out of the holes in the bottom of the door after a few weeks, it hasn't. MB say it woujld fall out if I drove around with the door open !

MB tell me the the door panel & lock has to be removed, rivets drilled out & new one's used when reassembling.... to resconnect the light and remove the glass which is still in the door, about an hours work at 120 GBP

I TOLD Autowindscreens I didn't want one of their monkeys carrying out replacement the work and MB should do it. They refused !!

I've been hounding AW ALL WEEK to try & get this resolved & NO CALL BACK.

40K car & they've bodged it.

Anyone have the e mail / phone number for Insurance Ombudsman service & do they investigate problems such as this ? It's not up to me, the customer to pay MB for bodged work carried out by a Third Party amateur company like Auto Windscreens
Thanks in advance

Who paid Auto Windscreens? If it was your insurance company, then ask them what they're going to do about it. If it was yourself, then submit a claim through the small claims procedure if Auto Windscreens won't play ball. Being fair, though, I think you'd have to give Auto Windscreens at least one chance to sort it out.

I've given them all week & numerous phone calls, with no call back. Nexdt route is to complain through my ins co. I just paid the 70 quid excess
