OK this may be re-visiting old ground but I've just phoned my local MB dealer and now I'm confused!

I've a C220CDI with the Audio 20 CD unit. It's an 06 plate (2006). Many forums / postings seem to suggest I can add an AUX cable easily to it.

Pressing CDC on the system does show the aux as active on the display. If I understand correctly this means the wiring for the auxiliary port is there apart from the wire with the 3.5mm jack?

At least that's what I thought but the MB dealer insists that this is only possible on the Command units for this model and that my only option is to get the Ipod kit. (Which I thought didn't work with the latest iTouch / iPhone as their connectors & voltages are different - but MB say different)

Can anybody confirm if this is correct or not? If it's not then does anybody know the correct UK part number I should be asking for?

AFAIK I thought you cant add aux input to the older Audio 20 units. IPOD and Aux-In for COMAND 2 / Audio-30 D2B cars

Comand Online Ltd :: Mercedes iPod solutions :: C (last model), CLC & CLK class (W203/W209)

The standard lead with the ipod kit doesnt charge the latest ipods, itouch and iphone. You need to also buy the new lead shown on the page above. It is £27.99.

Edit: Seems you may be able too add aux input to your unit. See: http://www.comandonline.co.uk/mb_aux_ntg2.html Email comandonline to confirm.

I have an Audio 20 in my '05 C270 CDi and bought an aux harness cable from my local dealer to allow me to plug in my ipod and play via the CDC button with aux input showing as active.
Harness (cable) part number is 169 540 49 08 which cost me £16.20 plus vat. It plugs into the back of the Audio 20 and then you'll need to find a suitable place to locate the female jack plug. I put mine into the ashtray area and use a 3.5mm lead to couple up. Easy enough.
You'll need to pull the centre console apart and remove the Audio 20 to fit the lead, of course. It's about an hours work.

Oh, and mine's an old ipod photo so the 3.5mm jack is simply a means to play tunes through the Audio 20 (I previously used a Griffin transmitter so this was a huge improvement). You'll still need to charge the pod separately and your track names will only show on the ipod, not on the Audio 20.
