Hello good people of this fine forum. Insurance time again. I have two vehicles insured with Admiral under the ' multi car scheme'. As reasonable as the quote is I am thinking of changing to Aviva. Has anyone had any dealings with this company? ie had a claim. Or indeed had dealings with Admiral.
Thank you for any advice/findings.

I use Aviva for all my cars on a multi-car. You have to haggle a bit but they get to a comparable price, they seem to apply sense for mods or special situations, and on the one occasion we had to use their accident management service, they were excellent.

Admiral (who I used for 2 - 3 years) were not as flexible for non-standards, and got expensive for temporary drivers etc. I switched to Aviva because they were cheaper.

Had three major claims with Admiral MC in last ten years, two no fault and one fault.
All paid/repaired promptly and no issues at all.
Used my own repair shops each time, premium increase negligible.
Welsh call centres friendly, easy to talk to and factually correct.
Had three modified cars with them, found the rates transparent and not excessive and no mods refused.

Steve (still a customer x2)

Three Aviva policy holders in this family, all very competitive quotes and good level of cover for the money.

Very easy to deal with and very easy to set up,
especially online where you get a 20% discount.

Three cars with Admiral multicar ( the Mercedes without any NCB @ £240.00) and the RR and a Beemer at both less than £200 each. No claims though ever for the others so cannot say what happens post an accident. Very helpful on the phone and easily understood:thumb:
Could not put a Defender on though as classed as a commercial.

I've had both and claimed on both, Admiral Multi car as previously posted no issues easy to deal with accident dealt with professionally paid out within 3 weeks. Aviva total nightmare had to argue every single point, they made lots of mistakes along the way, denied and contradicted what they had said I had to battle every step of the way to the payout over 3 months later, I personally would never deal with them again, another company that fall into this category is AXA Avoid like the pox :thumb:

Not sure why but Aviva alway quoted me an arm and a leg for my car insurance.

Aviva I believe , are currently the provider of Mercedes "Own Brand" Insurance- albeit tailored to MB owners.

Yes they are, had one claim and the car was fixed quickly - although the MB dealers just farm out the work to slack bodyshops.

But we are approaching 2 years and the claim is still not resolved as both parties claim the other is at fault. Bit of a joke really and I have to declare a 'fault claim' until it is resolved as it was no way my fault.

I've been with Aviva before , though never had to claim , and they seemed fine .

Bear in mind that RAC insurance are a subsidiary of Aviva and that when you insure with them you get RAC roadside cover as part of the deal ; they are usually about the same price as Aviva .

I found that both give good quotes for the first and second year , but bump prices up at year three ; by swapping to the other company you revert to new customer low prices .

My experience is that Aviva are not too bad, as always you get what you pay for. I prefer NFU, but as I said, Aviva are not the worst by any means. One claim with them and they dealt with it reasonably well. NFU are in a different league.

I am with Elephant/Admiral as they year on year give me the best quote for the cover. My brother is also with them and had one claim a couple of years ago and it all went smoothly.

I have read alot of people are with Aviva so I obtained a quote online to see how competitive they are (my renewal is not for a few months yet).

Aviva quoted me over double my current premium with 7 years NCD and no points or claims in over 5 years

Thank you to one and all for taking the time to reply to my query.

I have a CL600 biturbo and a Suzuki GV2000. The quote from Aviva for both vehicles, fully comp, garaged, and with no points on licence and over 20 years NCB protected, is £425 total for both cars. This undercuts Admiral (my insurer now) by about £50. Not all about money though, its what they are like in the event of a claim.

Based on my experience of claiming with both companies I wouldn't swap for £50, bet if you ring Admiral they will price match :dk:

I have Aviva multi-car policy.

When I had a claim there were no particular issues, however they are a big company and it does feel like it, i.e. you do need to talk to several people and hold the line while queuing at call centres (part of the time anyway), so not exactly a 'concierge service' operation, but overall it does work, no hidden clauses or small print exclusions etc.

Mine's Aviva through a local broker. Best of both worlds, excellent company and rates, and a broker to go into bat for you if needs be. Broker moved me to Aviva on renewal.

I was with Admiral for 5 years, never had to claim, customer service was always outstanding. Annoying that they always upped their renewal price and I had to get a new quote online and ring them to bring their renewal down but then whenever I did this, they were the cheapest by a long shot (multicar policy with my amg and afew other different mercs/bmws). Then about 18months ago, Admirals price rocketed and Avivas dropped massively... I went with aviva who wont insure the mrs on the AMG as shes not 25 yet but that didnt really bother us. Then went to renew afew months ago, Admirals price had become more competitive but when I told aviva, they dropped theirs to £200 less than Admirals, stayed with Aviva another year and I guess we will see so comes out cheaper next July!!!
