Had my B180 cdi ( manual box ) for 3 weeks now. I use it to travel to and from work, which is 17 miles each way, with about 16 miles of it dual cariageway.
On the dual carriageway, I do 65-70mph indicated, but don't seem to be getting very good mpg.
Over the 3 weeks the average mpg has been 42.9, which is below my expectations.
My previous car ( mazda 3 1.6 diesel ) has very similar figures for power, torque, and the government mpg figures, and would average 53-57mpg on the same route.
I know the government figures are not realistic, but thought they would be a good side by side comparison.

Q / Is 43mpg overall what other users are getting ? or should I get it checked out ?

Tyres are at the 29psi for single occupancy, and car has done 26k miles.

Appreciate any input

thanks

Bump .

Anyone share their mpg figures with me please ?

Hello

My wifes is the same but a CVT auto, we get 45 mpg almost any run it goes on. If I use the cruise and did 65mph then this would creep upto 50mpg quite easily. The best I have had is 59 mpg at approx 55-60mph.

Are the journeys long enough for the car to get warm etc. Ours will do 45 easily but the journeys generally is over 10 miles a time. Don't forget also its winter, harder for the engine, heating and everything working overtime.

Too be honest if you want a genuine 50mpg or more in this size car I think the VAG engines are the ones to go for or the cough... bmw 118d / 120d especially the manual ones?

I would have thought a manual slightly better than the CVT we have so not sure but its not a million miles out? is it due a service any time soon?

Thanks AMg,
Yeah 17 miles each way at a steady 65-70mph. Averaging 43.5mpg.
Service due in 8500 miles. Like you say, winter nis maybe not the best time to assess.
Heated seat on at level 3, heated rear screen on, and windscreen demist on to begin with.
Surprised and impressed how quickly hot air is through the vents from cold startup ( air hot before 1 mile covered ).

Just got this, so changing not an option ( don't like golf greyness or BMW 1 series looks either ), but everything else about the car I like anyway.

^ We were the same the wife had the older shape A class but the A210 Evo model LWB and we looked at changing when my wife was expecting our second.

We looked at all sorts of cars, Audi A3 sportback was a close call but the B class won.

Wife loves it, ooh and yes I thought it was just her as she has the heating on full but it does come out much quicker than on my car.

I'm happy with 45 to 50 mpg given its auto I would perphaps think yours should be more if anything? but its still not bad.

I think if you start to get 45mpg soon that's not bad. Saying that I managed 43mpg out of my E class estate on the way back from Dover on saturday and the car was loaded with a roof box also !! so in a way the B class should do more like 60 !!!

Still its a nice car and should improve hopefully as the weather does
