Hi all as some of you know i recently purchased a used 2003 e320 av cdi. from private dealer.

Now, day after i got it, the right wing mirror indicator stopped working and was informed of this with a malfunction on the display...no biggie I thought £30 will get me replacment led indicator. Then I've been getting the due to battery convenience turn off blah blah on display.

This i thought may be due to cold weather or even sitting on dealers place for past number of weeks.

Then jyust yesterday, while I WAS driving, the command unit said something along the lines off "comand will shutdown within in the next 3minutes unless you turn the engine on"

I was driving so the engine was running!!!

So awoke yesterday to a completely flat battery.
I got friend to jump start me and I drove it for an hour none stop, with no heating or comand turned on hoping to charge up the battery.

When i got back I leave the car for an hour, before I tried ther ignition to start her up and see if it help the charge...well, it didn't...battery completely dead.

I looked at the battery in the boot and it looks really like new...real merc battery etc..

So, today and i spoke to merc repairs and they say, they might not be able to look at it until AFTER xmas...man...you think battery or what?

The battery will always look like new as it's very well protected from the elements.

I'd get a new one fitted. Peace of mind ...

This is a charging fault, so either alternator or controller.

It may be a battery that has reached the end of its life .

Equally , it may be a charging fault .

If you find yourself unable to start , and call out one of the breakdown organisations , they will usually diagnose the problem for you .

Edit , DM and I typing at the same time with the same thought - spooky !
