Does anyone know the name of the company which supplies MB with batteries? I recall getting one many years ago, identical to Merc one except for the logo but a lot cheaper.
Not sure about that but i always go with Bosch whenever i need a new battery. I had one in my VW camper for five years, till i sold it(the camper that is). and it was only used for about four to six months a year and never gave me any trouble at all.
Thanks for replying. Are you sure it is Varta? That is not the make of battery I bought some years ago. The one I got came with the acid in separate containers.
It is not a silly question. It is maybe me being silly. Some years ago I got a battery (made for MB but without the logo). It lasted for years (in a number of cars) and the acid left over was used to rejuvenate a number of other batteries. At the time the cost was about a third of the MB battery. Batteries here have a hard life and are sometimes used to help start vintage tractors which do not have alternators.
My original MB batttery was made by Hoppecke, but I replaced it with a VARTA Blue Dynamic series. There are 3 grades of varta and I went for the mid grade but took the chance to upgrade the capacity at the same time. check fit if you go for a non MB battery !!! Varta has always been my choice to date and I have had no negative experience.
Sorry to butt in but (as a the new owner of a 99T c250) was looking for info on a batteries. your threads have given much info, thanks. Ended up getting a Varta silver 100ah from Hughs-Aylesbury Merc for £70incl vat (on promotion) which was less than some discount stores and Harpenden Merc who wanted £114+vat. it pays to ring round!
