Hi lads and lassies.

I am just back from down south picking up my new to me 07 111cdi long vito with 110k on the clock for a bargain, the battery warning light is on.

now the previous owner replaced the battery, new alternator and has checked the wiring and cannot get it to go away hence the cheap price. but it drives nicely, battery is getting charged etc so i bought it.

could this be the glow plug relay? it has had a new from mercedes ecu fitted due to the guy messing up the last one, i do not know how but the receipt is there so it has been done.

coming from a transit this is much better to drive, comfortable but i don't know very much about them so any help would be appreciated.

also what code reading software do you guys recommend for reading fault codes?

Can you post a picture of the warning light? Is it battery warning, or alternator charging warning?

Hi markjay. Its definitely the battery warning light which is normally linked to the battery beingfaulty or bad alternator but both have been replaced with genuine mercedes alternator and good battery. I wonder if its a slightly loose lead. I will get a look at it today but just wondering if this was commom fault.

If you have a battery charger, I would fully charge the battery/batteries first, and see if fault goes away.
