Becker IPOD adaptor

Tan, this is the Dension ICe>Link adaptor. Be very careful. I don't think that it will be compatible, since it is designed to use the Becker CD-changer protocol, whereas (as far as I know) the Mercedes units use a different one. Plus, they also use a different connector.
I speak (more or less) from experience: I had a JVC sat-nac, effectively a Becker Traffic Pro rebadged, that used the same connector blocks as the Becker. I bought the Ice>Link for the Becker thinking that it would work: it didn't. The JVC unit uses a different CD-changer protocol.
I've since swapped my head unit to a "real" Becker, and now everything works fine.
There is a specific version for Mercedes head units fitted with an optical cd changer connection, but it's about £50 more expensive:

The same store quotes almost 300 UKP for a mercedes OEM ipod connection kit for the Audio 10 and APS 30 units!!

ipod interface Mercedes OEM

That is more than the cost of an i-pod!!!

Car Audio Discount in Chiswick. Hmmm. Went in there a few weeks ago to ask about the Ice>Link. Could they supply and fit. Not interested at all, unless I wanted to spend £800 on a Becker system with SatNav.

Most places sell the kit for £199 retail, but this lot do it for £185 which is the cheapest I've seen:

"This system does not work if connected to the Mercedes Telephone System"

Do they mean that literally or does just having the MB telephone system running via main audio system make it useless?

Either way, does not fill me with confidence

iPod and Audio 30 APS

It appears that the only option for integrating the Mercedes Audio 30 APS to an iPod is to buy the Dension ice link plus.

It basically replicates the functions of the OEM six disc CD-changer that would be installed in the iPod's place, hence you can only access the 1st six playlists (since it thinks they are CDs!).

Personally, I have had bad experiences with these Dension iPod units when i installed one in my old W168 A-Class (OEM Sony headunit) and had to get the dension adapter replaced twice by carphone warhouse. The build quality of these units is frankly rubbish!

So @ 200UKP for the dension icelink-plus (with the d2B interface to connect the iPod to my Audio 30 APS) i just dont think i can be bothered with all the hassle right now.

There is an installation guide on Densions US site:

http://www.densionusa.com/images/install_guides/mercedes_install_guide.pdf

Also, you may need the software updates for the Dension's firmware, which can be downloaded from here:

If anyone does decide to install this system on their Audio 30 APS, i would be interested to find out how succesful it was.
