A few days ago a cup of tea fell onto my laptop - having left it to dry out in the hope that it would recover, it didn't! I'm hoping my insurance will cover it, and will find out on Monday if this is so - however it means I need a new laptop so does anyone know any good deals out there for around the £500 mark.

Ideally it would still run XP, rather than vista, but from what I gather most laptops come pre-installed with vista, I still have a copy of XP so might put that on it myself, and thankfully I'd done a backup a couple of weeks ago so didn't lose much data.

Ideally I'll take this opportunity to buy an apple as I far prefer them, although from what I've seen I'll need to push the budget to around £700 which might be a bit too much - if you know of any good deals out there please let me know!

Cheers, and happy new year!

Tim.

If you own a copy of XP then you an install it on OS X with a copy of Fusion or Parallels and run XP. OS X likes a big RAM upgrade to run nicely

You can save a decent amount on an Apple laptop buying from the Refurbished Store. Go to the Store and look under Special Deals

Ignore the predictable whiners and Apple haters on here

was an apple-ite a long time ago before college came to an end and loved them. went elsewhere for a decade or more and never really got used to it. lost a samsung to a nasty virus and went to the new Apple stores to have a look. an hour later walked out 1700 quid and my gorgeous Probook heavier.

cant say i love a lot of the technology in my life but with my apple its different.:o
