Hi All,

I have a set of Kleeman TS5's which needs refurbishing. They are 2 -piece split rims and have a deep dish.

I am thinking of getting polishing the lip and getting the centres powder coated. Which colour does the panel think will suite a black car best?

I'm quite sure that I don't want black centres, maybe anthracite? :dk:

wheels are as shown here: new 2 piece split rims, opinions please - Page 3 - VW T4 Forum - VW T5 Forum

Thanks

I have always had a soft spot for Bronze (dirty gold) but i think gloss black with polished rim would look very tasty on your car:rock:

Tony.

Thanks Tony,

not sure about the Bronze as that is (in my mind) more suited to a Jap car

But gloss black would work.... just worried that it might get "lost" with the rest of the car...

I'm leaning towards anthracite...

Polished/ brushed ali or silver with polished lip.
Your CLS will look awesome.

Hahah thanks dude, I agree CLS's look good with deep dished rims! I did consider getting the centres diamond cut, but worried about the longevity

I think that only black cars look good with black wheels.

My silver C32 had black alloys when I bought it but they seemed a little lost in the arches so I had them re-done in;

Now I like that colour! Is that anthracite or some other variation of Gray?

Anthracite / Gunmetal is the way to go if you fancy a change from silver or black.

black goes well with sterling silver .. much like hot and cold, salt and pepper, and fish and chips.

black and darker colours hides the design of the wheels

Next question, any recommended refurbishers? I've checked Lepsons, but they don't seem to do polished lips, Diamond Alloys seems to be very good too...

That was my wheel mans attempt at the CL65 titanium!

It's got a lovely bluey-grey tint that sparkles in the sun.

Diamond Alloys (Harrow) did some work for me recently and I was happy with the result.

Further afield I used these guys when theye were initially operating from one site in Birmingham Alloy wheel refurbishment and repair - Quality refurbished wheels although they now run a franchise operation across the UK.

I think I've pretty much narrowed it down! Chrome powder coated Lip with Shadow chrome centres

Two different shades of chrome might clash?:dk:

Tony.

Hmm... good point! I'll go and see how they look, maybe hyper silver on the lip or diamond cut :dk: ...

Decided against getting the lips polished as I would have to keep polishing them continuously, so getting them powder coated for max protection and durability.

Now the guy I spoke to at paint-it.uk said they can get the same result as polishing with chrome powdercoat, so intrigued to see how it will look...

You wouldn't need to keep polishing a lip.

Just give them some good coats of wax and clean them regularly/ keep them clean.

They'll stay good.

Rash, it's me we are talking about! I"m sure they'll be absolutely fine with you ;) but me and cleaning regularly doesn't go hand in hand very well:ban:

If you're not the cleaning type, don't go anywhere near polished even it's clear coated get an invisible stone chip of the brake dust eat through and the worm will get i and have it's merry way under the laquer. If the chrome option is as they've described it too you though it sounds the best of both worlds.

Any of the deeper silver/greys will look good with 'polished' but you want the sparkle in it to contrast the rim rather than just look dirty/odd as a darker chrome would.
