Big shock with my Alloys

I had to have a new tyre put on the 18" AMGs.
I took the car to the garage expecting the fitter to search the boot for the keys to the locking wheel nuts or at least have a "special key" to get the wheels off.
I could not believe AMG alloy's on Mercs dont have locking wheel nuts:eek:.

I need to buy some at the W/E for future peace of mind so, any suggestions on what make?

P.S. For a S/L 500, 2003, (230) 18" AMGs.

Your MB dealer is the best bet

So you never looked for a key or checked if your wheels had lockers or not before you went to have the tyre changed? And just expected the tyre fitter to find a key hidden about your car somewhere????

Well ,I have a similar tale .
Just bought a CL 600 from a dealer with 20 inch OZ Alloys on .(4k ,s worth !) .
On closer inspection ,when I was looking around the car after picking it up ,I found there were no locking bolts on the wheels .!!!!!!!!!

What the f.....

I have been looking at the Mcgard locking bolts on the net ,but not sure which ones I need .

Does anybody know what thread it is .I have measured the length of the screw thread etc .Is it M12 or M14 ?

Apologies for hijacking thread .

I think mcgard SL models are the best locking nuts. There was a review recently on autoexpress, where a professional wheel jacker had a go at all the different locking nuts. The mcgard SL came out top.

Well with expensive wheels it may well be worth buying the best, but if you just want some kinda locking nuts and your main concern is "will they fit" then just go down to your local retailer for that kinda thing, I got some from euro car parts.

My car came with MB locking nuts......key was in car when I 1st inspected it but not when they delivered it......complained and MB provided me with a new key!

Had similar with the wifes car...no key when we took delivery....again went to MB and they found the right key and gave it to us there and then no messing.

Always check you have locking bolts and the key!

after owning the car for about 14 months, you should have seen the look of surprise my wife had when i accidently found the ejector button :D

Are you aware the SL is a convertible :) :) :)

I think a quick trip to the stealers and about £50 you will be sorted.
