Road Tax. Election coming why don't they bring back road tax for all vehicles. You can afford a classic car but don't pay road tax cos don't use it enough. Plus all these so called low emissions etc. If they use the road pay the tax that's what I say.

It not going to get anyone to vote for anyone though is it!! No one wants to pay MORE tax!!! From next year EVs get road tax applied anyway.

Of course no one wants to pay more tax. It just seems unfair to me that if you use the road you have to have a more modern car. We cant all afford that anyway.

Makes a change, most new members start with a mechanical/electrical problem.
I thought I might find something interesting to talk about. I'm surprised I haven't more direct agreement. I mean I'm just pour old in expensive ML350 to run around in. Money no object. My original feelings haven't altered. Who did away with Road Tax anyway for so many motors.
That would be grossly unfair on the classic vehicles that do very low annual miles, in some cases only a few hundred per year.
Now if you had proposed scrapping road tax and putting it on fuel or miles driven I'd be with you all the way.
No tax is popular but obviously unfair taxes are hated.
I couldn't agree more about the idea that if you use it you should pay for it. I believe they do that in France already. I doubt that I will do more than 500 miles in my ML350 this year. That's why its my big gripe.

Oh gosh , in France now my IT manager at work was telling me if your car has a bigger than 3l engine, you're looking at 20000 euros of road tax a year. As much as people hail the French model, I'd vote for them to introduce Macron to a guillotine
