1995 c280 RIP, now 1987 300e
So as you guys know someone rear ended my w202 and its salvage now..
i know insurance is going to take its sweet time with my check.. so i have an old 87 w124 sitting at home.. should i buy a new car (used) or should i fix the 124..
the only thing i hate about the w124 is how big it is (it's very hard to park with those tiny mirrors), how much gas it eats, and the ac controls and spark plugs are pretty dated.. other than that.. the seats are comfy, the rides good.. so i really am not sure what to do.. oh i'm a student by the way..
and no civic is not an option.. once you go rear wheel drive.. you get addicted to the handling if you know what i mean

thanks guys

Sounds like you answered your own question. Fix that danged 124.

Always found the car parking spaces massive in the States compared to our tiny things.

Better luck in 2010. Enjoy that 124.

:D

I have an R129 SL and a tweaked 190E - and my CRX would run rings around both of them as far as handling is concerned
The Merc is a nicer place to be on a sunday or a motorway, but the Civics in my life need less attention and are much more useful in the handling stakes

I do understand that millions of US students run around in riced up Civics - but you only need to be subtle to stand out from the crowd :)

Each to their own and as a student I had an old 1972 200D that really couldn't win any race from the lights :)

oh how i love those r129s.. i would buy a crx.. but i've had a integra before.. got jacked 2 weeks after i bought it.. :/ got a bit traumatized after that.. then i got an 240sx as it was cheap.. that got stolen as well.. but recovered.. then i got an camry for free, sold it, bought a w202.. got totaled.. :/ i seem to have the worst luck.. also im scared that i get in a crash with a crx im dead compared to a 124
also i hear 124's are quite reliable once properly maintained.. but then fuel consumption is a big issue :/

Fix and drive the 124 then you can take your time to replace the damaged car.

Hey, you didn't lose your license then ?

naw judge said i put up a good argument so he reduced the fine from 940$ to 330$.. still alot.. but he allowed me to take traffic school a second time as long as i do community service also i got the cop ****** ;p

kind of thinking about doing this.. although the w124 eats lots of gas.. its still a joy to drive.. i mean thats all that really counts in the end right?
also the w202 finished like an unfinished project so i was thinking about fixing up the 124, then perhaps picking up a amg 202 one day..

If the body/subframe is sound fix the W124. What's the engine in the W124? You could transplant the wrecked C class engine and transmission into the w124 at a push.

124 has a M103, about 80,000 miles (previous owner swapped it in) but frame probably has about 230,000 miles.. c-class engine is m104.. doesn't make much of a difference and its smaller

too obvious haha
