Hey all, after allthe debacle with my in built dash cam, I’ve decided to go for a standalone front facing cam.

The folks over at Command have recommended Blackvue and this is the model I’m currently looking at and would welcome your thoughts, experiences and opinions.

The thing I can’t quite clarify with some of these BV cams, is whether I can tether them to my iPhone’s Hotspot for WiFi while on the move (I have unlimited data)?

I have the two channel BlackVue and also can't fault it.

If you have a cloud enabled BV cam (most are now I think) you can hook it up to a wi-fi connection so it can upload data to the cloud. Mine is connected to my home wifi, so it uploads when I get home. I don't see any reason why you couldn't tether it to your phone for the same purpose. They also transmit their own wi-fi SSID so you can connect to them with your phone directly to view stored video.

I can't comment on the Performance of the BV, as I have never owned one, but if possible I would go for one including a Rear View Cam!;)

+1 for this.

My last 'incident' would have looked like my fault without the rear cam.
+2 for this.
BTW if you co to the Blackvue Official Outlet, you can get the 2 channel version of the 590X for the same price as the 1 channel in the Amazon link you posted.
It's 'refurbished' (which generally means its ex demo). I've had 2 from this source and they've been indistinguishable from new.

I have Blackvue cameras in most of my cars and they’ve proven to be very good. It’s definitely worth getting a Wi-Fi enabled model.
