The new Rexton is based on the ML and IIRC it doesn't look all that bad, except maybe for the grill. The chairman even used to have an upright Ssangyong bonnet ornament, looks like the new one might not.

We have a chuckle about these cars but they actually serve a very useful purpose; guaranteed spare parts for a few more decades...

Mercedes-derived : If this Chairman looks somewhat familiar, then that's because it is: it's a remake of the discontinued W126-series Mercedes-Benz E-Class, with only minor styling details and some sheet-metal changed.

W126? I thought it was W124, then W210, for the E-Class - I thought the W126 was an S?

You are correct.Journalistic carelessness or ignorance I'm afraid. This sort of inaccuracy does make you doubt the overall veracity of the article. Hence the MAYBE in my original post.

I read stories a few years ago that stated the chairman was 140-based.
